Venmaya (Ven-my-uh)

Venmaya was the capital city of the Venmaya Trade Guild. It was destroyed by Imperial forces 20 years ago, and the eastern section of the city suffered extensive damage from the Republic's nuclear weapons. Prior to it's destruction, Venmaya was the center of commerce on Iyass, and the secondmost wealthy city in the world.

Before the war, Venmaya was mostly inhabited by Halflings and Tieflings.

History

Venmaya was founded as a trading post originally. In 61,912 the various guilds of Venmaya united under a signle corprate banner to monopolize as many markets as possible. For millienia, Venmaya was considered "The Jewel Of Iyass" due to it's affluence and most of it's resident's being wealthy.
Druing the Fourth Draconic Crusade, the armies of the Trade Guild, Vulpis Union and Clan Garvug desperately treid to hold off the Imperial Army and buy time fot the Republic and Esora to retreat to Whitesburg and evacuate as many civillians as possible. The defense was a failure, and only 30% of the cities population could be evacuated (roughly 145,000 people) and the rest were trapped in the city as it fell. The Imperial Army slaughtered the city's residents and plundered it's many riches.
Once the city was sanitized of it's population, the Imperial army began to burn the city to the ground. As the city was burning, 2 nearby nuclear detonations flattened large swaths of the city.
Today, Venmaya lies abandoned. It is a hotspot for bandits hoping to strike it rich with whatever goods survived and by mutants who call the ruins home

Tourism

Though much of the city is ruined, some structures still stand. The Marble Tower located a few blocks away from the old Guildhouse still stands, though it has seen better days and the structure is unstable.
It is rumored that the vaults underneath the Guildhouse are still in tact and that the Imperium hasn't figured out how to get into them. If this is true, untold riches could be found inside,

Geography

Venmaya lies on the coast of the Sedna Ocean. Sparse vegetation surronds the city as the radioactivity is low enough to allow plant growth.
