Aircraft

An aircraft is a vehicle or machine that is able to fly by gaining support from the air. It counters the force of gravity by using either static lift or by using the dynamic lift of an airfoil, or in a few cases the downward thrust from jet engines. Common examples of aircraft include airplanes, helicopters, airships, and gliders.   Most aircraft move at very fast speeds and can travel over geographical obstacles like bodies of water or mountains. This makes them ideal for traversing long distances, or to bypass difficult or otherwisw impassable terrain.   In terms of gameplay, an aircraft will behave like a much more capable flying mount. The driver can use the vehicles action as their own.   For instance, someone who is flying a helicopter may use their movement to aproach a landing area, then their attack action to fire the helicopter's weapons, if applicable.  

takeoff and landing

In order to safely take off and land an aircraft, a long flat area is needed. Most aircraft can take off or land with 2,000 ft of runway or flat ground, while larger aircraft may require at least 6,000 ft to safely take off or land. To land or take off make a DC 10 dex check. If the runway is smaller than the required amount for the aircraft you are flying, the DC to take off or land will go up by 5 for evrey 1,000 ft of runway is missing.  

Vulerabilities and immunities

Aircraft tend to beless durable than other vehicles. However, they are signifigantly harder to hit due to their speed and height. As such, it is all but impossible to target an aircraft with non ranged attacks. Any ranged attack that is not a dedicated anti aircraft weapon or lacks a tracking or an automactic hit function will be at disadvantage when attacking. If the aircraft is hovering or on the ground, this attribute will not apply.   Like other vehicles or non organic constructs, aircraft are completely immune to psycic, necrotic and poison damage. However, they are vulnerable to lightning, fire and explosive damage.  

disabling and destroying

Like other vehicles, once an aircraft's HP reaches 0 it will be disabled. disabling an aircraft while it is in flight can be very dangerous for all invlolved. Once an aircraft is disabled, it wil fall 500 ft per turn. When it hits the ground it will take fall damage. Depending on how much damage it takes, the aircraft may explode.   If a falling aircraft hits a creature or object, whatever it hits will take whatever the fall damage value was, in addition to explosive damage if applicable.  

repairing damage

Using Mechanic's Tools will repair damage doen to an aircraft. Parking it in a hanger for 1 day will fully restore it.

Individuals gaining access to aircraft is rare. Aircraft are most often used and owned by militaries and corprate entities.

However, their unstable nature made trans oceanic flights impractical for several years.   After several years of innovations and progress, aircraft have become a vital means of traveling long distances, and have brought great change to modern battlefields with their presence
