Before The Feasts

I was careless in the training grounds today. Should have expected today to have gone how it did... At least I got to see Yamna before I somehow got transported to a mountain area, far from where Karak said we were meant to go. I was alone.   My amulet, which I've had for as long as I can remember, has surprised me today.   It was freezing cold on the summit of this mountain. Luckily I found a door after scratching on peculiar frost... preserved dead body aside. I identified the runes on the door as being the same as the ones on my amulet... as I took out my amulet and slowly directed the face towards the door, it opened. I entered the cave, where there was a chasm alluding to lower areas - destroyed pillars barely visible below. I found a pressure plate that activated spiral stairs leading down. Upon investigation of the pillar, an Ice Mephit caught me off guard and attacked. I discovered that they are weak to blunt damage - I shattered it quickly, though not without taking some damage.   Not long after, a door with a face carved into it spoke to me. It caught me off guard, telling me that it hadn't seen anyone else in a long time. It had no idea how it got there, but knew it was created to contain something bad. It didn't have a name unfortunately. It didn't know how to open, either, but upon questioning, it responded with the word "Open" and thus opened, revealing its mystery. A dark, foreboding darkness threatened the air.   I found some flint and sparked alight the torches, lighting each one, and slowly headed into the desolate spiral staircase.   There, amongst a frozen Frost Giant, I met someone, but before I could say anything, we were attacked by another Ice Mephit. We took care of it quickly, but as soon as it was over, the Frost Giant spurred to life. My friend stayed behind, beckoning me to run. I did, and barely made it out - the terrain was rough, but I managed to escape by climbing pillars and getting out of concaved stone. The whole place was crumbling in on itself.   The Frost Giant was out without missing a beat, and caught up with me, almost hitting me - but my friend somehow returned, and pushed me out of the way.   Then, an avalanche - the Frost Giant lay buried in the snow, about a mile down.   My friend, having saved me... entered my amulet.

A Rude Awakening

When the avalanche brought down the Frost Giant, it took me down with it. I awoke 3 days later in the home of a D'jo orc named Kar. She helped me gain my bearings and told me I was several days trek away from my home of Shobob-to. She questioned me about my story, saying that it had been a very long time since any Frost Giant was seen in this area. I explained what had happened with my amulet and held it close to me when Garren, my amulet-bound friend, popped out, surprising Kar. They spoke a bit in old Feloran that I could barely understand, and Garren made sense of what was written on the amulet, but I couldn't understand his translation of it. It turns out that he is not from our time.   After being walked in on by two other members of the druid clan, I ate some berries and vegetables they had foraged. Kar went to spoke with them shortly and they left, and she told me not to stray too far from the village, as the "Sacred Forest" had many evils roaming in it. She told me of Su-Cho, local historian and keeper of lore. I could find out more about my amulet through him. Before I left, I concentrated on my amulet again, trying to understand how it works - Garren returned to the amulet. I was not able to summon him again.   I explored the village, finding a lot of empty or recently vacated homes. Their architecture was truly one with nature, as it was hard to tell where the living areas began and true nature ended. The first other member I met was Gwenett, who was skeptical, suspicious, and refused to give me her name. I only learned it after stumbling across the hut of those who had entered Kar's home earlier - Restan and Diala. Restan was friendlier, but Gwenett had made it staggerly obvious that they considered the clan members of Shobob-to to be little more than grunts. I didn't catch the name of the third person who entered the hut, but she was Gwenett's partner. She wanted to speak to me but clearly did not in fear of reprimand from Gwenett.   I left not long after, muttering under my breath about how they thought they were superior to my tribe. Though, I have to admit, seeing how they live has me questioning my own place in my tribe.   That's when I finally stumbled across Su'Cho, whose size rivaled that of our strongest men. I instantly had admiration for him., and it turned out he was in my clan before. He had been carrying heavy logs seemingly with ease and told me about the dangers of the forest - he'd been in the Sacred Forest for around 100 years or so. He was my type of guy - we shared their local spirits together and spoke for a while. Before I left, I gave him my amulet to study, and was accompanied by him to Kar's home. She had prepared a meal for us and Restan.   They knew about my clans average meal - I had at least 3 different cuts of meat on my plate, while they had a lighter meal. Kar explained to me why her fellow clan members were wary of me - the nearby Dotharans had been blaming attacks on their town on the D'jo. Apparently, the lands had been a point of contention between the two cultures, with the D'jo having been present for a long time, and the Dotharans being greedy to take what doesn't belong to them.   Kar suggested that to gain their trust, I should help them to find a Cervidae, some sort of fey deer-fox that was precious to them. They suspected that the Dotharans may know what happened to it. I agreed to help, since she had saved my life.   The next day, Su'Cho returned and explained that the amulet was an Amulet of Bonding, and that it must have been activated once I was close to those runes - the ones I was at when I got transported to the mountain. I let Garren out again, who was not conscious of the time he'd been "put away." He agreed to accompany me, and I learned we were not to be more than a mile apart. I also learned that once putting him in the amulet, I would not be able to summon him again unless I rest first.   After 3 days, the time it took to fully recover, Garren and I headed out on the half-day journey to Tìl'Ghabajùl, the Dotharan town. Kar had given us some gold and a talisman which could return us to the Sacred Forest. She warned us not to let it get into the wrong hands. I promptly gave the talisman to Garren. We spoke for a bit along the way, and he remembered that he had been a paladin of sorts, with an oath of vengeance, but he couldn't remember. He at least was feeling less confused and asked me about what things were like for me growing up. It seems my clan members were less similar to the orcs he met in his day compared to the D'jo. This further made me ponder about my place in my tribe.   There were some bear prints along the way, and we followed up to a certain distance before I remembered to heed what Kar and Su'Cho's warnings about the forest. We decided to turn around, and as we were about to get back on the main road, we spotted a dry patch of bushes amongst the lush green. "You may want to ready your weapon," Garren warned. We were attacked by two twig blights and one needle blight. We quickly took care of them, and I investigated and learned about the creatures.   We continued to make our way, looking for clues about the Cervidae, to no avail. Then, we finally found the town, with its fancy architecture that screams "soft."
