Markos Symros has used his time rather effectively to partner with Lysandra Laskaris and form a mutually beneficial partnership. While she handles the external politics of the wider Aeillan and southwest Galisean landscape, Markos handles the internal squabbles of the senate, and balances the needs of the various mercenary groups, pirate fleets, aristocrats, and guilds vying for power in the state. He has in his many years in the senate been able to carefully manage the various factions that would threaten to tear the Exarchate asunder, even as he has had to sacrifice the hinterlands to banditry.
