Blackrock Saurian
Blackrock Saurian is a Saurian language used in the region of Blackrock.
The Blackrock group has merged the pharyngeal consonants into the plain consonants, however, they are still phonologically distinguished from their plain counterparts, as in non-terminal positions, the vowel following the previously pharyngealised consonant will be fronted and glottalised (creaky voice), as in /a/ to /æ̰/ or /ə/ to /ḛ/. In final positions, most Blackrock accents retract alveolar consonants except for /ɾ/, except in cases where it was previously pharyngealised. As /ɽ/ is still maintained as the fortis rhotic consonant, final /kˤ/ is the only case in which the distinction has been lost. The pharyngeal ejective, /ʡʼ/, has become something like a uvular ejective, /qʼ/. The sound is not actually uvular, as saurians lack uvulae, but the place of articulation is front from the pharynx.
In terms of vocabulary, Blackrock maintains a much larger inventory of words than Tropical varieties, likely owing to their existence in more complex societies. Blackrock has taken in many loanwords, primarily from Then and the Davanian languages during various stages of their development, but also others.
