Basic Information

Ecology and Habitats

Fae habitats depend on the season to which they call home. Spring fae prefer cool, brisk and wet environments where life flourishes, such as northern forests, and springtime on Geloriel. Summer fae prefer warm, humid or dry environments where the sun beats down, such as tropical forests, deserts, and summer on Geloriel. Autumn fae prefer cool, brisk and dry environments where life wanes, such as autumn on Geloriel. Winter fae prefer cold, harsh and dry environments, such as northern tundras, arctic deserts, and winter on Geloriel.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The fae feed on memories. The more valuable the memory is to its keeper, the more sustaining and nutritious to the fae. To gain these memories, the fae offer boons and perform trickery to take these memories from their keepers and sustain their own lives.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

The fae can be found just about anywhere in the Feywild, but which fae you find depends on which season you find yourself in. Other fae can also be found in the various forests, deserts, and arctic regions of the Material Plane, regions that fae of similar seasons will feel acclimated in.

Average Intelligence

Many fae are very intelligent creatures. To be able to perform such feats of trickery, one must be able to outwit the other, outmaneuver them mentally. Some of the more good-natured fey, if any

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Some fae possess the ability to see in dark places, though only in shades associated with their season. Few others possess truesight, allowing them to see invisible creatures and even into the Ethereal Plane.

Civilization and Culture

Major Organizations

The largest organization of fae in the Faewild is that of the Court of Seasons, a group led by the four oldest and most powerful Archfey in all of the Faewild. Those fey are: Oberon, Titania, The Queen of Air and Darkness, and the Withering Knight. Each rules over one of the plane's four seasonal regions (Summer, Spring, Winter & Fall respectively), and all rule together knowing that each of them must remain to keep the balance.

Common Etiquette Rules

There are four large rules that all Fey follow, upheld by the magical laws of the Faewild itself, and they are as follows:
Tell No Lies: In the Faewild, lies are met with fierce retribution, but this is not a process impossible to avoid. If one wishes to avoid the truth, they can be vague, stepping around the question, or answering in questions of their own. To cement new truth, one must speak it three times. This is also how promises become binding.
Break No Oath: If a binding promise is made, it cannot be broken without consequence. If the promise is fulfilled or the contract is mutually ended, it is complete. However, if one goes back on their word, they shall lose something of equal value, most often a cherished memory, such as meeting a childhood friend or a first kiss.
A Gift for a Gift: If one accepts a gift from a fae, one must give a gift in return. If one doesn't, they fall under the same consequences as breaking a promise or an oath. This is one of many reasons why one must refuse any offer from a fae.
Hide Your Name: Knowing someone's true name gives you power over them, so many fae hide their name while trying to seek out the names of others. One way to defeat or subjugate a powerful fae foe is to learn their true name and speak it to them, which shall bind them to your will.
