Horith Winterbourne

Horith is a powerful and imposing figure, particularly in his werebear form. Covered in thick brown fur, he stands at almost seven feet tall, showcasing a muscular and robust physique. His sharp claws and teeth, as well as his glowing amber eyes, give him an intimidating appearance. Despite the fearsome exterior, there is a profound sadness in his eyes, hinting at the heavy burden he carries due to the torment inflicted upon him by the hag coven.   In his child form, Horith undergoes a dramatic transformation, appearing as an innocent and curious young boy of no more than seven. With wide, innocent eyes and a mop of messy brown hair, he contrasts sharply with his fearsome werebear form. Despite his tender age, there is a maturity and wisdom beyond his years in the way he carries himself, a testament to the ancient spirit that resides within him.   This duality in Horith's existence, oscillating between the imposing werebear guardian and the innocent child form, adds complexity to his character. The contrast reflects the depths of his suffering and the redemption he seeks, making Horith a compelling and multifaceted figure within the intricate tapestry of Branchburg's narrative.

Personal history

Horith's history is a tragic tale of manipulation, suffering, and redemption that unfolded in the shadowy embrace of the hag coven led by Mother Merry.   Born as a simple villager in the town of Windgate, Horith's life took a dark turn when Mother Merry and her coven orchestrated a cruel and twisted ritual. The coven, at Mother Merry's behest, subjected Horith to a malevolent fey lycanthrop, transforming him into a werebear. This transformation, however, was not merely a curse but a malevolent tool for the hags to feast on his pain and suffering.   Confined within a dimly lit chamber adorned with symbols of despair, Horith endured torturous sessions, both physical and psychological. The hags, adept in dark magic, amplified his pain, using enchanted implements to inflict deep wounds and drawing out raw emotions of fear, regret, and sorrow. Horith's agony became a wellspring for the coven's dark powers, sustaining their vile desires.   To deepen his torment, the hags played on Horith's guilt and remorse, projecting illusions of his victims and forcing him to relive their deaths repeatedly. The cacophony of screams and accusations haunted his mind, ensuring a constant source of anguish for the hags to siphon.   Horith's escape from this nightmarish existence came when he stumbled upon the Great Tree Spirit, Wode, during a perilous journey through the forest. Recognizing the purity within him and the potential for redemption, Wode intervened, shielding Horith from the hags' influence. Erasing his memories and gifting him with druidic magic, Wode transformed Horith into a guardian of nature, breaking the chains of the hags' manipulation.   Now armed with a newfound purpose and the ancient wisdom of Wode, Horith embarks on a quest for redemption. He seeks to protect the delicate balance of nature, using his druidic powers to defend the forest and its inhabitants. The once-tormented werebear has become a symbol of resilience, turning his painful past into a force for good in the ongoing saga of Branchburg.

Horith is a large and powerful werebear, with thick brown fur covering his muscular body. He stands on two legs, towering over most humans at a height of almost seven feet. His sharp claws and teeth are always visible, and his glowing amber eyes give him an intimidating appearance. Despite his fearsome appearance, there is a sadness in his eyes, as if he carries a heavy burden. He moves with a surprising grace and speed for his size, making him a formidable opponent in battle. Horith, in his child form, is an innocent-looking young boy with wide, curious eyes and a mop of messy brown hair. He has a slender frame and is often seen wearing ragged clothes, which he may have scavenged from the forest. Despite his young age, there is a maturity and wisdom beyond his years in the way he carries himself.
