Asgorath

The World Shaper

In the cosmic tapestry of divine beings, Asgorath stands as the dragon deity of creation, a force that transcends the boundaries of alignment and weaves the destinies of dragons and the multiverse itself. As the creator of dragonkind and the multiverse, Asgorath's influence extends far beyond mortal comprehension, operating in subtle ways that elude the notice of those beneath the vast expanse of dragon-scaled skies.   Regarded as the elusive architect of reality, Asgorath is often perceived as neutral, embodying the totality of existence. The dragons, his cherished progeny, hold a special place in his divine design, their destinies intricately manipulated by the World Shaper's unseen hands. In the Outer Planes, Asgorath takes on the identity of Io, a name whispered among celestial beings who acknowledge the dragon deity's unparalleled role in shaping the cosmos.   The holy symbol of Asgorath, a simple unadorned circle, serves as a representation of totality—the completeness of creation under his watchful gaze. Scholars and sages, in their attempts to unravel the mysteries surrounding Asgorath, have speculated on his nature. Some propose that he is an aspect of the World Serpent, a cosmic force embodying the interconnectedness of all things. Others posit the theory that Asgorath, once a primordial, ascended to godhood in the aftermath of the Tearfall, a cataclysmic event that reshaped the fabric of existence.   The enigma of Asgorath's true essence persists, with some drawing parallels between the dragon deity and the enigmatic overgod Ao. Asgorath, akin to a masterful weaver, intricately threads the stories of dragons and mortals, ensuring that every twist and turn contributes to the grand narrative of creation.   In the hearts of dragons, the name Asgorath evokes a sense of reverence and awe, for their very existence is a testament to the divine breath of the World Shaper. Mortals, meanwhile, navigate the multiverse, unknowingly guided by the unseen influence of Asgorath—a deity whose true nature remains as elusive as the threads of fate woven into the vast cosmic tapestry.

Tenets of Faith

Dragons are the First People, and also the rightful Lords of all. Dragons have power second only to the gods, which they afford only out of respectful deference. All glory, honor, and power belong to the mightiest race Orben has ever begotten. Care only for Dragons and other Draconic creatures, that they may live forever in the world. Serve Dragons should they need your aid, or else slay them when they betray their entire race. Feuds between Dragons are beyond the comprehension or authority of any mere mortal, but should such a conflict escalate, one must put an end to it, and maintain balance between all things, lest Orben itself be destroyed, and with it all of the accumulated knowledge and power of the Dragons, which is beyond measure.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Asgorath never manifested himself before his worshipers. However, he made his existence felt as a powerful presence in their minds. Asgorath, however, could manifest physically if he wanted to, taking on the form of any dragon, and even in forms of other draconic creatures, such as pseudodragons. The oldest myths of dragonkind claimed that Asgorath manifested physically only once, during the act of creating the multiverse. Those who believed in this myth believed Asgorath was so huge, that even his scales were larger than the largest mortal dragon that ever existed.
