Intervention Overview

Penitents Sennic, Immeron, and Doric were dispatched to Whisperwound, a mining complex outside of Abran's Stove in the Free Cities of Marlock. There, they met their petitioner, a "echo" named Yistrix Gempalm, employed in the mines to gently coax whispercrystals from their larger formation, an essential ingredient in many magical undertakings. She appealed for aid because she, along with her fellow echoes, Unc and Twoteeth, have been trapped by a disastrous cave-in--something unprecedented in her tenure as a echo for the Whisperwound. The Penitents agreed to help her and her colleagues get out of this predicament. This undertaking involved first excavating their current confines, then fighting a mimic in the guise of a mining cart. It was clear, as they moved along, that The Displacement was partially responsible for this disaster, as they faced down Discordant Elementals and something called a "slime choir," which did not like their attempts at song. Eventually, they rescued Unc and Twoteeth, and then made for the exit, which was blocked by an entity known as the Psalm of Many Mouths. It featured, unsurprisingly, many mouths. This, again, was overcome and the echoes delivered safely from the mine. The Penitent then took their leave with the thanks of the grateful echoes.

Salient Details

• It was clear, especially to Immeron, that Sparksail Enterprises was also partly to blame for this disaster. He noticed the tell-tale signs of Sparksail machinations all over the mine, and deduced that they are seemingly trying to encourage Displacement in this location.
• While escorting the echoes, the Penitents encountered a noble ghost named Rikcribis Yis-Yacari. He steered them toward the other trapped echoes and, upon finding out that they are The Penitent, asked them to "say hello to Brel" for him.
