Steppe Elves Species in Gates of Eternity | World Anvil

Steppe Elves

An elven variant created by Xylian Dominion mostly to staff various instalations on more steppe regions of Karadia, while also controlling herds of animals on the pastures.   Most of them lived n central or eastern Karathia. After the Dominion fell they made a number of semi-independent states, including kingdoms of Avareia, Peteneia, Synarr, Tavria, Ukerenya and Greziya. All of them, naturally, fell during human invasion, and were settled by a vast number of humans and a mix of elven refugees and slaves that overtime changed into Low Elves, with the exception of Greziya which was reconquered and annexed by Vhessan Empire.   Despite this many of them still remains. They werealways partly nomadic, their clans living very tightly together, managing to survive and thrive at least to a point even when humans settled cities and towns on their former land. To this day most of them lives at least partly nomadic lifestyle.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Two legs, two hands, one head, in short - norm. They are also stronger and have better reflexes (still being strong rather than dexterous etc.), can spend their entire lifes on horseback (this is more a matter of their society than their genes, but still they have a few small improvements here).

Biological Traits

As all elves, they are very dependant on level of their blood purity. Mixing with other elven subspecies makes their offsprings genetically inferior, slowly degenerating into low elves, making special traits of their subspecie much weaker with every generation, and lowering their lifespan. A pure-blooded aristocracy of steppe elves can live two hundred years, with up to 400 years in case of particularly magic-talented and pureblooded elfs. The 'plebeians' that are still considered steppe elves have average lifespan of around 100 to 120 years.

Genetics and Reproduction

Their reproduction is typical for elves. Can have children only with other elves, ogres, and very magical beings for example shapeshifters and high dragons. Pregnancy ranges from 9 to 10 months, depending on level of blood purity.

Ecology and Habitats

Steppes, for rather obvious reasons. Their clans have at least slight advantage over humans living there by default, which is something they tend to exploit as much as they can.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

Lack of facial hair with exception of eyebrows. Slender, muscles that doesn't look all that present (whil still packing a punch), skin colour pretty much human-like, black or brown eyes and mostly blond hair.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Good eyesight, but the rest is at best average.

Civilization and Culture

Common Taboos

As among most of the elves, they have a taboo about relationships with members of other subspecies. While this does happen, it is generally shunned among most of elven societies, making elves that attempted it in most cases move to other provinces of Imperium.
