Imperial Threat Classification System in Gates of Eternity | World Anvil

Imperial Threat Classification System

One thing Imperium loves above all is nice and tidy tables when it can fit everything that exists around, limiting weird displays of ever shifting Dark/magic as a whole. If it is closed in a table, there can not exists things outside of it - that's how Dark works. And that's what Imperium loves.   Imperial Threat Classification System is supposed to serve as more or less complete general description of hostile creatures - be it beasts, daemons or deities. It gives a rough estimation of what can be expected when fighting such beasts - including how many how strong people should be send on a mision to subjugate it.   It is however only a very rough estimation, since creatures require various approaches and - especially when strong - different gear and preferred skills.

Imperial Threat Grading System

General Informations
Imperial uses a similar, 10x10 grading system for many things, including artifacts, threats, adventurers and so on. It keeps stuff nice and tidy while remaining relatively aesthetically pleasing. It is, of course, the most unprecise part of the ITCS for simple reason - it is hard to 'grade' something properly because its danger level heavily relies on how prepared its opponents are, and on whether they are REALLY prepared (for example with equipment tailored to counter its magick) and so on.   Thus this is just a general estimation, used to measure appropriate responses to eliminate said threat.

Grading
Copper I-V - Threats of Copper Grade I to V can be killed by a child - if it is lucky - or by adult. Sometimes even without being armed. They are things like Spirit type daemons, that become dangerous only in high numbers and that can be seriously punched to death by a sufficiently desperate citizens.   Copper VI-X - Threats of Copper Grade VI to X can be killed by average citizen that has some sort of weapon - even club or nonmagical staff - since it can be dangerous only in high numbers. Like, once again, Spirit type daemons, only of more irritating type than those classified as I-V.   Iron I-V - Threats of Iron Grade I to V can be killed by a group of citizens, making it weak to even smaller lynch mobs. It can be dangerous in groups or against a single citizen who will most likely die or receive heavy wounds against such a threat. An example might be weakest Locust daemons or sludge snails and so on.   Iron VI-X - Threats of Iron Grade VI to X can be killed by a big group of citizens (aka lynch mobs), small squad of soldiers or a low level sorcerer/aura manipulator. Good examples are bigger lignomorphs, dire toads, slightly stronger Locust daemons and so on. Not very different than Iron I-V really.   Silver I-V - Threats of Silver Grade I to V can be killed by a squad of disciplined soldiers, low level sorcerer or 25-30 level aura manipulator. They are not that much a threat to villages and towns, at best able to cause trade disruptions or kill people who go too far into the woods. Example might be wild nymphs, weak undead or dire wolfs.   Silver VI-X - Threats of Silver Grade VI to X can be killed by a big group of disciplined soldiers, low level sorcerer or two, or 30-35 level aura manipulator. They are not that much a threat to villages and towns, at best able to cause trade disruptions or kill people who go too far into the woods. Example might be stronger wild nymphs, bigfoots, stronger dire wolfs, slightly stronger undead.   Gold I-V - Threats of Gold Grade I to V can be killed by an average trained magician (or 35-40 levels aura manipulator), or a group of competent sorcerers. It can easily overrun mines, quarries or hamlets unprepared for such attacks. An example can be griffins, wyverns, average daemons and foot soldiers of Legions of the Dead and so on.   Gold VI-X - Threats of Gold Grade VI-X can be killed by talented magician (or 40-45 levels aura manipulator), or big group of competent sorcerers. It can easily overrun mines, quarries or hamlets unprepared for such attacks. An example can be stronger types of wyverns and griffins. Platinum I-V - Threats of Platinum Grade I to V can be killed by a talented magician with a group of sorcerers with helpers (or 45-50 level aura manipulator). It can easily overrun a whole village with few hundreds of inhabitants, often with its entire neighbourhood (farms, quarries, mines etc.). An example can be strongest types of wyverns and griffins, certain powerful servile daemons, weaker dryads and so on.   Platinum VI-X - Threats of Platinum Grade VI to X can be killed by a few talented magicians (aura manipulators 45-50), or one or two but with whole squad of sorcerers/weaker aura manipulators. It can easily overrun a whole village with few hundreds of inhabitants, often with its entire neighbourhood (farms, quarries, mines etc.). An example can be certain powerful servile daemons, dryads and so on.   Mithril I-V - Threats of Mithril Grade I to V can be killed by several talented magicians (or aura manipulators 45-50) with few dozen trained sorcerers, or an aura manipulator of 60-65 level. It can easily overrun smaller towns (few thousand inhabitants), in most cases with its whole neigbourhood (farms, quarries, mines, castles, villages). An example can be very powerful servile daemons.   Mithril VI-X - Threats of Mithril Grade VI to X can be killed by ten or so talented magicians (or aura manipulators 45-50) with few dozen trained sorcerers or an aura manipulator of 65-70 level. It can easily overrun smaller towns (few thousand inhabitants), in most cases with its whole neigbourhood (farms, quarries, mines, castles, villages). An example can be very powerful servile daemons.   Orichalcum I-V - Threats of Orichalcum Grade I to V can be killed by a ten to twenty talented magicians (or aura manipulators 45-50) with up to several hundred sorcerers or an aura manipulator of 70-75 levels. It can easily overrun whole cities (with even several dozen thousands of inhabitants). An example can be very weak daemon lords, very powerful servile daemons and so on.   Orichalcum VI-X - Threats of Orichalcum Grade VI to X can be killed by an archmage or a small army of adventurers and magicians/aura manipulators. It can easily overrun whole cities (with even a hundred thousands of inhabitants). An example can be weak daemon lords and archdaemons, very powerful servile daemons and so on.   Adamantite I-V - Threats of Adamantite Grade I to V can be killed by a small group of archmages or army of adventurers and magicians/aura manipulators. It can overrun a whole province - lest it receives help from its neigh ours - at least causing serious disturbances or even decimating it completely. An example can be daemon lords or achdaemons.   Adamantite VI-X - Threats of Adamantite Grade VI to X can be killed by an Awakened/Ascended, groups of archmages and whole armies. It can overrun a whole province - lest it receives help from its neighbours - at least causing serious disturbances or even decimating it completely. An example can be daemon lords or archdaemons.   Black Gold I-V - Threats of Black Gold Grade I to V can be killed by a group of Awakened level combatants, or by mobilizing forces of a major vassal states. It can possible overrun entire region, causing deaths or enslaving whole population, unless it receives help from other regions. Example can include demigods or equal creatures.   Black Gold VI-X - Threats of Black Gold Grade VI to X can be killed by whole groups of Awakened level combatants or major vassal states of Imperium (which will require its total mobilization). If not contained properly it will most likely overrun entire regions of Imperium. Example can be Greater Aberrants and demigods.   Black Crystal I-III - Threats of Black Crystal Grade I to III will require partial or even total mobilization of all military or magical assets of Imperium of Karadia. The best example is daemon god Maneater, who nearly conquered Karadia during Great Southern War.   Black Crystal IV-VI - Threats of Black Crystal Grade IV-VI are a threat to entire world, requiring its total mobilization to even have a chance of fighting back. Keeper of Vault beneath Imperial Library - in fact a remnant of Kashya the Dragonslayer - is consider Black Crystal VI, since her emergence from Library would immediately flatline brain activity of everyone in Karadia, possibly driving the rest insane.   Black Crystal VII-X - Threats of Black Crystal Grade VII-X are large hypothetical, as they are capable of ending Reality as a whole or even both Reality and Unreality. In fact, however, Dark Ones (like Kashya the Dragonslayer) are exactly this.
