SC2020 - Lighting the Way (Birthday celebration for The Way of the Ancient)

The Way of the Ancient preaches that long before the humans arrived, the Ancients, a god-like race, lived on Garuda. They left behind the structures as a way to guide humanity to transition to a higher place of being as they have done themselves. For followers of the Way of the Ancient it is expected that on their birthday, they must go and seek out a connection with the ancients. If an ancient structure is present they are to spend the day inside it studying it and meditating. This practice became widespread through the workings of Trizur, who himself spent most of his days doing this out of curiosity. It was his hope that by encouraging people to go study the ancient structures, and by encouraging parents to let their kids have the day of for this purpose, The Way of the Ancient might find more people, who like himself were gifted at interpreting the ancient writing and the messages hidden in their structures. Before Trizur’s teaching, birthdays amongst followers of the Way of the Ancient was a time of the year to test and show of their knowledge of the legends and stories. The birthday person was invited to doing recite the text of the day. For kids this often meant that they got to choose which legend they liked and then they would learn it by heart and recite it for the community on their birthday. However, for the truly devout, as they grew older, they would add to the challenge and the prestige by having the Guide ask them for a specific passage of a book, or amongst all the legends, and the closer they could recite it to scripture, the more honor they received. Trizur encouraged a new way, where they would come out of meditation and then not recite scripture as written, but instead take the scripture and tell the others what they had learned during their day of study/meditation. This practice has found some use, but most stick to the old ways.
