Where the ocean rages freely   And the sky turns ever grey   There's a place beneath the waves   Where they warn us not to stray.     A palace full of anger   Dwelling in the darkest depths   Where the shadows breathe and play   And beckon only death.     One day I turned my back to you   A second, you were gone   Diving ever downwards   Until you reached the home of one.     I tried my best to follow you   To call you back above the sea   But in your eyes I saw a darkness   And knew you were truly lost to me.     Years passed and still I wondered   Did you stay beneath the shore?   When I left you in that kingdom   Did you hope I'd beg you more?     And now I know my answer   As I visit you again   Ever lonely in your kingdom   And see that shadow once again.     If only I were braver   I could have saved you from this path   But now the tides have turned   And I must avoid your growing wrath.     Where the ocean rages freely   A great terror does pursue   The hopeful and the lost my dear,   I fear I made a devil out of you.     My dear, I made a devil out of you.
