These Triton guard the greatest depths of the ocean, rarely surfacing above the waves, and it is even more rare that they should find themselves on land for any length of time. They are so named by their fellow Triton because they build their settlements deeper than most, and have done for the centuries that they have called the ocean their home.

Culture

Culture and cultural heritage

A lot of their culture is based around hunting and fighting off beasts who would try and invade their lands. Although not invaders themselves, their way of life mirrors that of a barbarian tribe or a stereotypical Orc warband from the surface. However, this does not mean that the Deep Bloods themselves are not disposed to invasions. It is not unheard of for them to deem a threat to their lands so large that they must cull an entire pack of creatures or tribe of people.

Common Dress code

As crusaders and defenders, it is more common for a Deep Blood to wear scaled armor made from the underwater creatures they have felled. Cloth, leather, or metallic based materials are unlikely to be seen being worn by a Deep Blood as they don't really have access to the resources to produce such clothing. Out of these three materials, cloth is the most likely to be seen, but only really worn by the young or the old. Most adult and teenage Deep Bloods will wear scale armor.   The armour that they do wear is very practical and uniform. It will typically consist of tassets, a breastplate, pauldrons, and gauntlets (though they ensure that the gauntlets do not cover their fingers and hinder their swimming). Some Deep Bloods may also be seen wearing helmets, though these are often ceremonial in use.

Coming of Age Rites

A Deep Blood matures into adulthood when they participate in one of the Great Hunts.   Great Hunts happen once every couple of months, and clans of Deep Bloods from all the far reaching depths of the ocean travel to Yon'Rule - their capital and origin. The greatest hunters will bring young 'freshbloods' to Yon'Rule in order to hunt a great beast of the beyond. These beasts are typically from the elemental planes, and by participating in these rites the freshbloods are not only proving their strength or courage, but also showing the elders that they are worthy guardians of the deep.
