Rookfell, the capital city of Scarmoor County, home to Jasem Royal family.   It is an old city - one can easily tell the difference between buildings that have stood since the city's formation and those that have crept up since.   Amongst the oldest of those buildings is the Palace of Prophecy. The palace itself is a sight to behold, it's tattered walls and worn features may be a prominent sign of it's age - for the palace has stood for little over a thousand years - but those very same features give it character.   Surrounding the palace is the aptly named Palace District. The buildings vary in size, from large mansions to small servants quarters, and though the buildings may look worn and old, the majority are kept clean and preserved by their inhabitants.   To the east of the palace is the Guards Quarters. Off duty guards often spend their time here, trading stories or catching up on missed meals and sleep, though some guards prefer the comfort of their own home. The exception to this are the royal guard who rarely spend their time amongst the Guards Quarters. More often than not the royal guard will dine and sleep in a separate section of the palace in order to remain close to their respective charge.   In the centre of the city, to the south of the palace, is the Central District. A mixture of traders, inns, and homes of middle class citizens, the central district is often bustling with life into the evening hours. Traders who make their home in the Central District are often those who have settled and found a steady source of income in the bustling city.   To the east of the palace and the Central District is the Trader's Forum. For settled and respected traders, or travelling merchants looking for a place to sell their wares, the Trader's Forum is always open and bursting with energy - from the early morning hours to late evening, not even the thought of thieves and scoundrels can scare away those who trade here. On the Celebration of the New Dawn, the Trader's Forum comes alive for three days with festive lights, an abundance of travellers and traders, and festivities like no one has ever seen.   West of the Central District is Rook's Borough. One of the slightly poorer districts originally built to compensate for the ever growing population of the city. Guards often patrol the borough and swiftly move on beggars and more shady folk before they reach the more central and respected parts of the city. That isn't to say the borough is all that bad - though the buildings look more ragged and worn than their older counterparts - as most crime tends to be reported in the Trader's Forum over Rook's Borough.   At the southern most borders of the city lies Traveller's Pass. Filled with inns and taverns for wary adventurers and a few less than reputable businesses - such as The Patchwork Stables. As with Rook's Borough, guards are constantly patrolling this district, always on the look out for travellers on the wrong side of the law.   For weary travellers with horses and horse drawn carts, the best place to leave their trusty steed is at Rook Stables. The building, much like the palace and those within the Palace District, is worn from centuries of weather and use. However, the company is friendly and helpful, and the treatment of horses left at these stables is impeccable.

Industry & Trade

Rookfell's main sources of trade come from the iron and stone they mine at the nearby hills. The stone is often imported to building guilds or general governments for structures and housing, though there are some independent contractors. Iron can either be imported as is, smelted down first, or even made into equipment and trinkets before being traded.   Their luxury resource is Rookfell Wine, made in the northern vineyards of Rookfell with grapes native to the region. This is usually imported to the upper classes, but there are cases where connoisseurs in the trade make special requests for the wine.
