Elven Spires

Spread out across Garlan, clusters of Elves have made their home in extravagant, large scale spires. Generally, the central spire is the largest and acts as a communal area for all sorts of activities, such as gathering halls, trade hubs, war rooms, and much more. Then spreading out from the central spire are much smaller, almost scaled versions of the central spire itself. These are typically homesteads for one - or even multiple - families of Elves.

Purpose / Function

Excluding the central spire, most spires within an Elven community are used for housing. A single floor of even the smallest of spires can hold up to three rooms, and again the smallest of spires will have around 3 floors. Most of the time, housing is strictly for families (or family guests), but there are some spires that are dedicated to housing travellers and traders from outside of the spire, which take their inspiration from your everyday pub or tavern. They also tend to be slightly larger that normal housing spires to accommodate for the extra numbers.

Alterations

Most buildings started out as just simple, natural housing - built into the trees and from the rocks surrounding the central spire (which has always been the initial building for every Elven community). With this in mind, the upper floors, and the housing spires furthest away from the central spire, have been added in after the fact to accommodate an ever growing community. These tend to be more stone and brick, and have less naturally occurring sections built into them.

Architecture

A mixture of visibly man-made architecture - such as carved stone and brick, to cleanly cut marble and cobblestone or wooden floors - that has been blended with the nature around it. Most Elven Spires are built submerged in forests and woodlands, so moss and vines are common blends with the walls.   As far as the colour palette is concerned, exteriors are often light greys and forest greens, whilst interiors tend to have a mixture of paler, more muted greens, blues and purples.
