The Harbingers

The Harbingers are a string quartet (though actually consisting of six members and often with additional supplemental singers and instrumentalists) dedicated to spreading the word of Old Mother across Taebur. They are often linked with the Children of Old Mother and various groups of the cult consider the Harbingers their leaders, but this is really a loose association at best, as there is little coordination and communication between the various groups of Children.
The group arrived in Taebur sometime in 98 AF. They have not made their land of origin public knowledge; however, common rumour says they come from a land far to the west, past the great western sea. Recordings of their music spread quickly across Taebur, becoming particularly popular with youth. Rumours also claimed that Old Mother herself sometimes performed with them, and recordings of them with Old Mother quickly became highly sought after, though no reliable reports of someone actually having such a recording came to light. However, in mid-98, it was announced that the Harbingers would be performing at the Dizzy Opera House in Momma at the end of the year. Posters advertising the event claimed that Old Mother would be appearing with them. This would be the first public appearance of Old Mother (and indeed first confirmation of her existence). On 21 Dec, the concert occurred and Old Mother indeed appeared (or at the very least, someone claiming to be Old Mother).

Structure

The group is, at its core, a string quartet with four core members. However, they regularly supplement their music with additional instruments and/or singers. They have two additional members who perform in most pieces with them, as well as several others who rotate in and out.
