Debts to be Paid

15th-17th of Brynholm 28 AoR - The adventure was completed by Aezra, Spark, Spiders, and Xanaster.

At the beginning of our journey to collect from Andri for Desalia Flintheart, Gomble warned us that he was worried that this job sounded dubious and we should be careful and keep the guild’s interests and image in mind. He recommended we talk to Desalia before we left for Kianthor, so we did and received similar warnings. She then directed us to talk to Shuster, the tavern-keeper of the Riverfront Inn, who knew Andri better. He stated that Andri was a good man but in fact quite crafty. With this information we then found our way on the road to Kianthor.   After staying the night at a town along the way, we made it to Kianthor later on the 16th, and after some searching we located Andri in the Beer Barrel's Bottom Inn and Tavern. We observed him as he met with a companion dressed in black armor, whom we later learned was named Owen, accompanied by three other companions. They eventually left for Andri’s home. The next day, on the 17th, Aezra and I went to talk to Andri. We explained a little bit of the situation, and he directed us to the Kianthor chapter of the Golden Mountain Trade Guild to sort matters out, while Spark and Spiders stayed behind at Andri’s house. We spoke to Claudius Maxwell, a noble tiefling and the head of the Kianthor chapter, and after weighing our options, we decided to make the best out of a difficult situation and tell Claudius what was going on. He assured us that we would not come to any trouble for telling him, and everything would be handled fairly. He also paid us on behalf of the guild.   When we returned to our companions, we came to find a scene of guards having raided Andri’s house. Andri and most of his companions had left except for a half-Orc who had been with them and who we came to know as Tharduk. When the guards entered the home, they slayed Tharduk on the spot, angering the party at his unjust murder. In the end, we came to understand this injustice as a result of the guardsmen’s prejudice against Orcs and half-Orcs. We verified with Claudius that this was not his intention for “making things right” with Andri, and Claudius was saddened by the news of this discriminatory act, especially since he had been on the receiving end of prejudice himself.   Afterwards, the party gathered together, and seeing that there was nothing left to do, Aezrah, Spiders, and I left for Amalite with the other party who had come to Kianthor. Spark stayed behind for business he had in town.
