HISTORY

There is a cycle that effects every empire. The cycle of collapse and growth; the renewing of nations, the death of nations.   The Divined Empire was neither divined or stable. It took one barbarian attack at the right place, and the once-grand empire was reduced to irrelevance, split in two. Once grand monuments were defaced or fell to the undefeatable march of nature, sentenced to irrelevancy.   A breakdown in communications had caused the split of the empire. The Southern Empire continued on, taking up the torch of progress and civilization as her brother collapsed.   As squatters inhabited her land as she bucked under the pressure, the Divined Empire yelped one last battle-cry against the scrouge of existence. She sent her legionaries to sack barbarian camp after barbarian camp.   This act would lead to her downfall. Her military was away - her people unsafe. They scattered like the wind when a horde of barbarians rampaged into Divinia, sacking the city.   The Divined was gone, replaced by a tide of savagery. Nations rose and fell in the chaos, attempting to emulate the once great empires of old. Oranda, Welten, the Nakani Empire - they all survived the crucible of this era.   The Divined is gone, but other nations would replace her.
If there was one thing humanity was known for, it was the insatiable desire to explore. To explore new lands, to find long lost treasures.   Rumors of long-lost lands reached the ears of Emperors across the world. Empires hungered for new land, begging for new imperial possesions. A wave of colonists and explorers rode out from harbors across the world.   What they found was wonderous. Entire continents filled with fertile land and forest, ripe for the taking. There was one problem - the natives.   The roar of gunfire filled the ears of colonist after colonist as they brutally cleared the natives from their adobes, selling them into slavery or worse. Distant empires resumed contact and trade, establishing hundreds of colonies on a single continent - Arden.
It was a small movement at first. A number of isolationists in the Nakani empire revolted, taking over the government. Nations shrugged at the revolt - the Nakani, now Nacen, were a backwater, irrevelant in the grand scheme of things.   When it spread to the Oradish Colonies in Arden, nations looked on with disinterest. A rabble of colonists with a nonsensical politcal system would collapse when someone pushed on it, right?   The Orandi recieved the answer when they sent their troops in. Hundreds of troops were lost to natural elements or enemy action, feindish and cowardly guerillas avoiding any massed engagement. Nations looked on with concern as they watched the Orandi be beaten by a unstable rabble, colonists beating the most powerful empire in the world.   It was the domino that started it all. As the Ardenians revolted, the Orandi suddenly lost contact with their other colonies. They were overextended. Colony after colony was engulfed in fire and flame as the Orandish attempted to regain control, to no avail.   Under the pressure, the Orandian Empire buckled. Oranda was vanquished to irrevelancy - much like the Divinians of old.
A single event had triggered the bloodiest war in history. It was a royal feud, escalated to a brutal degree.   The roar of muskets filled filled the ears of many across the world as armies scrolled across land, fighting for empire and glory. It was brutal. Thousands of men died at the whims of reckless charges, empires exhausting themselves for some form of glory.   It was a waste. When the empires realized what they were doing, the Kingdom of Ardenia had surpassed them. The empires were exhausted. Treaties were drawn up to avoid future conflicts, a careful balance of power being set across the world.   When the Empire of Nakani violated this peace, her capital was sacked by a alliance of ten nations. Each nation had earnestly tried to end war, regulating their violence.   It would not last.   It took centuries for the Treaty of Foxville to break down. When it did, it was brutal. Oranda initiated a blitzkrieg on Duesvilten, taking over the country with ease. Mechanized warfare had taken the empires by suprise.   The response was uncoordinated. Hundreds of men died by trenches or in fruitless cavalry charges, the failure to adapt costing the lives of thousands. It was the three nation alliance of Nacen, Ardenia and Welten that beat back the Orandi - costing millions of lives in the process.   By the end of it, the old empires had been cast down and shattered - replaced by a new world order.
The war had spent the empires of old. A communist revolution toppled the Welten empire, founding the Socialist Republic of Weltkria.   Within a few years, the spheres of influence had been drawn. The old empires were split between the Weltkrians and Ardenians, with the Nacenians carving out a colonial empire through violence.   A new type of war had descended on the world - a cold war. Spies moved to one-up each other as proxy wars were fought in backwaters across the world. Hundreds died in fruitless wars, securing some sort of resource or nation.   War was no longer fought for glory and empire. It was fought for influence, for puppets.   A terrifying escalation has occured. The WPS Revolution has sparked a militarized space race, threatening to upend the current situation...
