General Physical Condition

A somewhat pale skin complexion, a fit and toned body.

"S-014" tattooed on the back of her neck just below her head. Surgical scars on her chest and back, as well as varies faded scars from training/fights on all parts of her body.

Personal history

Her earliest memories are being part of the Investiture Initiative, being strap to a chair and receiving injections. Her designation was S-014, and commonly referred to as "Fourteen". Fourteen like most of the other test subjects were docile and did as they were told. They didn’t know anything else and any resistance was met with harsh punishment. Some of the older test subjects tried to take care and protect the younger ones as best as they could. Three was one of the oldest and she acted as an older sister/mother figure to most of the other test subjects. Unfortunately her body rejected whatever they had given her and she disappeared one day. Her memory was a comfort in dark times. Most of the people who conducted the experiments were masked, except for one - an elderly man with jet-black hair despite his obvious age. His eyes were also incredibly dark, but he was always gentle and soft-spoken to Yin and everyone else. He was referred to as, "Father Crow" by the test subjects or “Crow Father” by some of the older test subjects as a small act of rebellion.
One night Father Crow came to her room after bedtime. He gave her a drink of something that tasted funny, and she passed out. When she awoke, Fourteen was inside a hut that seemed to have been constructed for a giant. Sure enough, a goliath was tending to the garden outside the hut. He tells her that Father Crow had left her with him to keep her safe. He was somewhat ambiguous about why Crow had left her with him, but there wasn't much to be done about it. Due to her time as a test subject Fourteen would not do anything unless Utgard told her to, following him around like a second shadow. Her docile and passive nature annoyed the goliath as he had agreed to look after her, not to raise a child.
After several months of living together in the forest, Utgard disappeared for two weeks. When he returned it was clear that whatever happened he was deeply disturbed by it. He didn't talk much for the week following his return, until he finally informed Fourteen that "Father Crow" had died. He wasn't sure how, but he told her that's why he had brought her to him - so that she would be safe. He wouldn't say anything else. It was after this that it was apparent that they could not continue to refer to each other as “girl” and “sir”. The goliath introduced himself him as Utgard and gave Fourteen the name Yin.
The next few years are peaceful for the pair as Utgard teaches Yin about the forest and the skills needed to not just survive but live there.
In 15 AR Yin began to experience asthmatic attacks. At first they thought it was just hayfever, but as the attacks increased in frequency and severity, Utgard began to fear the worst. Upon examination he found that something had begun infecting her lungs and heart. But it wasn’t an infection – it was a mutation. While looking for a cure it quickly became clear that an arcane solution was out of the question. What originally believed to be Yin’s lack of talent for magic it became clear that she was resistant to magic as a result Utgard had to rely on less supernatural methods: alchemy, minor surgical procedures, and resuming her druidic training. Utgard had started training Yin to be a druid but stop when it became clear that she couldn’t cast magic but fortunately the druidic sect that Utgard belongs to uses Breathing Styles to strength their bodies. Through the combination of these methods the asthmatic attacks stopped and her body stabilized.
Tragedy would strike again in 21 AR when Utgard contracts a rare disease. Unfortunately he was unable to overcome and passed away shortly after.
As he lay on his deathbed, he told Yin all that he knew about "Father Crow". His real name was Gregor Kensington, and he had been an old friend of Utgard's many years ago. They had lost contact after the return of civilization to the surface, until the day that Gregor had brought Yin to him with little explanation. He had simply begged him to look after her for a month, promising to explain everything in time. Naturally, with his death occurring shortly thereafter, no explanation had ever come. Worse, Utgard had suspected foul play. But he had also feared that investigating things in the jungle of civilization would be liable to get himself and Yin noticed and possibly killed as well. Even worse, Utgard had realized that Gregor had been involved in some truly monstrous experiments. He hadn't been the man that Utgard had believed him to be.
Utgard‘s last request was for Yin to leave their home. He had chosen to live a quiet life away from civilization and while he knew Yin was perfectly content to continue to live alone, he wanted her to see the world first.
