Personal history

Caeldrim was born in the city of Margrave’s Promise to the noble family of Vatia. He is the youngest amongst three in his family. His family is full of half-elves who originated from sun elves. His family specializes in detection in all forms. His parents run a company that enlists bodyguards and inquisitives. His father, Leoelor is the head of his family with his mother Arbellis at his side. They were very nurturing and caring parents. When Caeldrim was born, they said a beam of sunlight gleamed through the window and shone onto him like the gods blessed him. His parents saw his interest in the gods, and just the aspect of light in general that they decided to put Caeldrim in the cathedral. He has been studying them and their ways ever since. Arbellis worshipped Cordelia as one of her Singer's Envoy and Leoelor worshipped Solaris. They actually both became paladins of their respected gods when they got married, setting their oath to be loyal to each other and their gods.   His older brother, Laucian, is a cocky and brash but once you get to know him kind, charismatic and charming he is. He has 13 years on Caeldrim, but he’s always been protective over him, even though he teases him alot. He’s never been a big fan of swords or any of those commonly used weapons, he prefers using his chakrams and his martial art skills that he has honed. He’s gotten so good at it that he’s able to shoot a radiant sun bolt from his fists. He tried to teach Caeldrim how to defend himself but Caeldrim was never a huge fan of martial combat. Caeldrim just not that strong physically, but he does know how to at least use a dagger pretty well since that requires him to be more dexterous than strong. Laucian once took Caeldrim to an underground fighting rink within our city just to show me what real combat looks like instead of simulated combat training we practiced. He got to see him show off his skills. He did this move that he called a searing arc strike where he sent a wave of energy that burned his opponents. Sadly, though he didn’t win in the end. Luckily, Caeldrim was pretty far ahead in his studies of the divine and medicine, that he was able to heal most of the cuts and bruises he’s gotten without any scarring.   His older sister, Sariel, on the other hand is an excitable, bubbly lass. She’s only 8 years older than Caeldrim but possesses just an innate talent for sorcery. It’s like she’s been blessed by Cordelia since her magic seems to always hit it’s mark, even if it doesn’t seem like it does. This might explain why she has such a bright demeanor. But don’t underestimate her since although she seems easy to get along with, she has a silver tongue that can whatever it wants. Their father makes use of her natural charisma whenever dealing with business. A memory that Caeldrim has when he was young: it was a stormy night and he was rushing home from the cathedral. That’s when the lightning hit a knocked over a tree, which a person that he really cared about, Erevan. Caeldrim tried to heal him with some divine magic but he was not strong enough. His head was bleeding from the impact and he didn’t know what to do. All he knew is that we needed to find some help. Caeldrim supported him on his shoulders as he tried to drag him back to his home where they can find some help. Luckily, Sariel was coming back from an errand, and they bumped into her on the way back. Although she wasn’t entirely pleased with who he was carrying, she saw the tears running down Caeldrim’s face and just the look of panic and desperation he had. She placed her hand on his shoulder and told me to try again. Caeldrim tried casting a healing spell again, and he felt a wind buffet around me as he casted my spell and looked back to see Sariel’s eyes glowing. As he cast his spell he felt the healing become empowered. The wounds started close up and the bleeding stopped. Caeldrim was relieved that he was better and I couldn’t be anymore grateful to my sister.   Erevan is Caeldrim’s fiancé, but their families don't get along. He is the heir to another noble family in which family despises. He’s a child of the family of Gabris which doesn’t get along with mine. His family are also a family consisting of half elves but their elven heritage traces back to moon elves which isn't that big of a deal but problems arose just because of their ideals. The Vatias believes truth must always prosper no matter what since everything will be revealed due to the gods light but the Gabris family believes that reality is based on perception and everything could be perceived as an illusion. They worship the god Aldrich. Their family also enlists spies and illusionists for espionage purposes in which sometimes my family has to clean up their mess. Also apparently there was a dispute between my father and his mother ages ago that forever created a rift between our two families but I have no idea what transpired since he would always change the subject whenever I brought it up.   Erevan is one of the smartest people Caeldrim know. He has short white hair, alabaster skin, and silver eyes like the moon. He's also one of the smartest people I know. He's always been there for him, no matter what situation they get in. Although he's only two years older than him, they basically grew up together. Caeldrim remembers as kids, they’d used to sneak out of our houses at night and just play around. He was also a talented illusion wizard. As kids, he would make our imaginations come to life. They’d fight dragons, werewolves, and all types of monsters together. One time he made an illusion of one of the broken dreams on a miniature scale, which was a lot of fun but gave Caeldrim nightmares for weeks. He's also the one who taught Caeldrim how to play cards and is why am he so great at it. His spellbook actually differs from other wizards since all he uses is a deck of cards   They were not allowed to see each other often though due to our families history. It was a good thing that Erevan is a great at illusions making it easier to find a way to see each other. Some nights he would sneak up to Caeldrim’s bedroom window invisibly and Caeldrim had to use his dragonmark just to see him. Even though the rest of my family could easily use their dragonmarks to see him, he ensures that he is extra cautious when it comes to it to make sure that Caeldrim was the only one that is capable of seeing him. He’d then use his illusion magic to make it seem like Caeldrim was still in my room as they departed to explore the night. He’d disguise us using his magic to make sure they aren’t noticed since they’d get in trouble if any of our family members caught onto us. They’d then just enjoy the night we had together, without any family obligations or expectations, and just enjoy being with each other under the stars and moon. Slowly, as they grew up, their friendship turned into more than just a friendship and they began to fall for each other. He’d sometimes spend the night in Caeldrim’s bed just be with him, and disappear the moment the sun rose.   They were out at night like we usually are holding hands when all of the sudden our voices stopped working. Caeldrim didn’t see what happened but he felt forcefully shoved to the ground. He looked over to Erevan and he was under the same situation. Then all of the sudden a orb of darkness seemed to propagate from a mysterious object that rolled on the ground. He didn’t get a good look at it since the magical darkness almost seemed to happen instantaneously. They were then tied together and gagged. He was able to channel some of Solaris' divinity and dispel some of the darkness temporarily, enough to get some glances at our kidnappers but he couldn't get a good glance since the darkness continued to spread again. He didn’t understand what happened but they knew who we were since when the silence spell wore off they were talking about us by name. He was so afraid at that time since he thought they were going to be killed but now I know that it was for ransom. Caeldrim wished he could scream, or do anything, but he couldn’t. He was helpless in this position. All he can feel is the warmth of Erevan tied up next time. Sometimes they would hear them come in and he can hear them laugh and as they'd whip him as punishment for trying to dispel their darkness and for burning them with the light. Erevan managed to get his gag loose, enough to cast a spell within the darkness to defend me but it wasn't enough. Caeldrim heard him yell out in a horrifying screech of pain before they gagged him again. He think they got bored since they stopped and left us there in pain. Caeldrim didn’t know how much time has passed in this orb of darkness, but he can’t help but feel paranoid. Caeldrim had difficulty breathing , he couldn’t see, and tears wetted my face. He couldn’t even cast any spells since my hands were tied and I couldn’t speak. Minutes, hours, days, weeks, he couldn’t keep track of time within this maddening darkness. All Caeldrim could do is pray to Solaris that there would be some sort of light within this darkness.   Then as if by a miracle they were about to be saved. They still couldn’t see within the orb of darkness but they heard fighting happening outside. The fighting lasted two minutes maybe three minutes. The darkness faded and they were greeted with the sight of mercenary troops, like the people that kidnapped us. But then the spell faded and they were greeted with the sight of our families. Caeldrim was too overjoyed at the sight of this to even have time to be shocked that the families worked together to save us. He started crying even more at the sight of my parents and siblings with tears of joy. Caeldrim hugged them as hard as he could, crumbling into their arms. He don’t know how long he hugged them for, but he felt safe again.   This all happened when he was only 17. Till this day, Caeldrim still have no idea who sent these mercenaries after us and what they were after. They were left with only scars to remind us. Caeldrim with a bunch of whip marks on my back and Erevan with a massive single blade wound across his torso. The only clue they found is the broken orb that said -otype #6 Van-. The rest of the script was unreadable due to it being damaged too far from repair. Apparently also the families were only in a temporary truce to save us since whatever tore them apart is a deep scar. Ever since that incident, Caeldrim has been afraid of absolute darkness, especially the magical kind. Luckily, he has learned how to dispel that type of darkness but not being able to send shivers down my spine. Caeldrim also now get accommodated by either his brother or hid sister wherever he goes for my own protection. Caeldrim is not able to spend time with the man he love and adore with my family breathing down my neck. Erevan has also been pretty distant but Caeldrim knew why. He was training to make sure that he is able to defend himself so that this incident never happens again. He still sneaks by every now and then to spend time with Caeldrim but he can see the stress in his eyes due to everything that’s happened. Caeldrim continued doing his daily routine of going to the cathedral, training with my brother and sister, and sneaking out with Erevan but it felt like he couldn’t improve this way. Caeldrim knows that he needed to leave to improve.   Caeldrim told Erevan about his plans and at first he was against my plans but then he saw the determination within his eyes and gave Caeldrim a warm hug and said okay. He was going to help me get out of the city. At night he hastily wrote a letter to his family and packed his stuff up. Caeldrim pretended to go to bed until he heard a knocking at my window and he knew it was time. He used my dragonmark to see him before he turned Caeldrim invisible as well. Caeldrim gathered his stuff and quietly made my way out. They walked slowly through the streets, hand in hand, since Caeldrim won’t see him for a while until he get back. He holds my hand tight, like he’s afraid he might disappear if he let go. They finally made it to the edge city in which he drops the invisibility spell so that he can have a good look at me. Caeldrim didn’t expect the next part to happen but he got down on one knee and proposed to me. He revealed a silver ring with a moonstone embedded in it. It glowed with a pale silver light. Tears were already rolling down Caeldrim's face at that time because he was already sad that he must leave but also the fact that he just got proposed too. Of course Caeldrim said yes at that time. He put the ring on the ring finger of Caeldrim's left hand. He also pulled another ring that had the same design but made of a different material and put on his finger. His ring is a golden band with a yellow topaz embedded in it that glowed a warm golden light. He told me that he enchanted the rings that whenever the pair are near each other they will glow, and that they will glow whenever one of them kisses the embedded jewel in it no matter how far they are from each other so that they can always feel that they are with each other. He told me that they’ll get married as soon as they reunite. He summons a phantom steed for me to ride for an hour. Caeldrim gave him one final kiss and hug. Caeldrim didn’t want to let go of the hug he knew he had too. Caeldrim saddled up and rode into the night as tears rolled down his face and as the light of his ring faded out.
