Ellinia
Ellinia is a land of fertile farms, rolling hills and lush forests. It is an abundant breadbasket, and it lies at the center of the continent of Galadria; as such, it is also a major hub for trade. A well-kept network of roads connect the many kingdoms and independent cities that dot the landscape.
Because of its vast swathes of arable land and its relative ease of navigation, it is far and away the most populous region on the continent. Small towns and villages dot the region, but its backbone are the large city-states that make up the Mercantile Alliance of Free Cities. The MFAC controls massive amounts of wealth, and facilitates trade across the continent. It is also responsible for maintaining the roadways that connect the various subregions of Ellinia, particularly the routes that lead to the other three major powers of the region: Elluvia, The Renfir Dominion and the Kingdom of Valencia.
In ages past, the Holy Elluvian Empire ruled over the whole of central Galadria. Under the Empire, the Church of Light was made a state religion. Those who refused to adopt its practices were shunned as second-class citizens, and those who possessed demonic heritage or dabbled in dark magic were driven out completely. The Empire collapsed in 2446, shortly after the Second Divinity War. Its legacy remains today in the form of the Kingdom of Elluvia, a small but powerful nation in the north of the geographic zone.
To the south, along the west coast of central Ellinia, is the Kingdom of Valencia. In the time after the Empire, many smaller nations rose and fell. Valencia was one such nation, and the only one that persists to this day. Much of its success is attributed to the royal line of Valen, though economists are largely in agreement that the true power of Valencia is its role as a key shipping hub across the Sindarr Ocean.
Finally, in the southernmost subregion of Ellinia, is the Renfir Dominion. The Dominion is one of the youngest nations on the continent, but has seen tremendous growth and success in the years since its founding. It consists of several cities controlled by tribal houses of Beastkin, who were self-exiled from the Blessed Empire following the Beast King's rise to power. Their significant starting capital, strategic locations and well-organized military have allowed them to thrive.
