New Jamestown
New Jamestown was for centuries a symbol for all of mankind, it was the first extrasolar colony established under the purview of the United Nations, it was from here, in the Alpha Centauri system that mankind entered a new age of galactic colonization and exploration, seeking new worlds and new life, upon the final frontier from which mankind would grasp its destiny, and it shall be again.
Alpha Centauri IIIb was, according to the scientific reports of the Salmon, the most ideal world for colonization, with frozen ice caps which if partially melted could form proper seas of salt water, and other sites of frozen glaciers of fresh water which could be manipulated into forming artificial lakes and rivers. This combined with the plans for the seeding of the planet with special machines and genetically altered earth plants and animals to create an atmosphere and biosphere capable of supporting human life
Alpha Centauri IIIb was officially declared the choice for the first Extrasolar Human Colony in the year 2238, and within the year the Colony Ship, named the Mary and Margaret after extensive lobbying by the United States and British Republic Within the European Union, departed for the world of Alpha Centauri IIIb.
When compared to the Luna or Mars Mass Colonization ventures in 2145 or 2189, the Colonization of New Jamestown went smoothly and with little incident, as time went on New Jamestown would become an Agrarian World under the Colonial Effort. Several dozen cities would be established in a grid like pattern across the world, with intricate subterranean transport networks via an advanced train system.
Outside the Major Cities, vast swaths of the world would become agriculture zones to grow food and certain crops used for other purposes such as Sugar or Cotton. Outside of these Agriculture zones, vast breaches were developed to become resort areas for tourists who came from Earth to see the beach living experienced by their ancestors upon crystal blue seas and golden sand beaches.
The Colony of New Jamestown would be declared by the UN as a success in the year of 2264, with migration opened up to the public and the establishment of the ruling planetary council under the joint administration of the United States and British Republic and being overseen by the UN Colonial Oversight Board, and EU Colonial Cooperation Council.
In 2280 Rock Station was built in Orbit of New Jamestown, to serve as the central customs station for transit to and from the colony, and while the station would be rebuilt and redesigned over the centuries, the principal designs and purpose of Rock Station remained unchanged, with even the name staying the same between all the variations and iterations of the Rock Station.
New Jamestown would often serve as a propaganda symbol to the rest of Humanity, the first world beyond the Sol system tamed by mankind, the first world settled and changed to become the centerpiece of a new era of Human Colonialism and expansion. This Growing Symbol for mankind, would be in part, along with its close proximity to the Sol System, make New Jamestown a sight of tourism from Earth and other Sol planets, with people wanting to experience the crystal blue beaches, expansive forests and great adventures across the planet surface.
Following Earth's loss of Food Independence, New Jamestown became the primary source of all food that would be shipped to Earth and the other planets of the Sol system to continue feeding the human population of the Home System, such a state of affairs which would come to an end when the Hyperlane network collapsed and all ability to contact and travel between Earth and New Jamestown became impossible.
Now, Hundreds of years after the fall, simulations show high chances that humans have survived upon New Jamestown, and if so, they should be brought back into the fold of a united humanity lead from Earth. Glory to the Federation.
