Galactic Archives

The Galactic Archives refers to both the archives themselves as well as the building containing said archives. Serving as the central repository of information for the Siathan Court, the contents of the Archives are publicly accessible and constantly updated with new information. Established in 318 AKU by High Empress {Name}, the Galactic Archives was originally simply referred to as the Archives, a name that has persisted to the modern day, mostly out of convenience. The original intent was to have a permanant record of actions taken by the Siathan Court and the royal family, although unrelated accounts of history were also added over time, turning it into a dedicated archive for the accumulated knowledge of the Siathan Court.

The bottom floors store the items stored in the original version of the Archives, preserved and undisturbed. The depth allows the temperature to remain stable and far lower than the surface temperature, reducing decomposure as much as possible.Access
Any {internet equvilient name} capable device in generally able to access the Galactic Archives, locating the nearest copy to retrieve data. For the majority of individuals, this is a copy maintained by their city or educational facility. For people on colonies or on ships however, this can be a more distant connection to the nearest city or station with a copy, adding minutes or hours between making an article request and receiving the full contents of said article. Cities and public learning organizations are granted a copy free of charge, providing quick access to their citizens and members. These versions are generally updated on a weekly basis, ensuring a consistent schedule of accurate information is easily accessible to their populations. Private individuals and organizations can request and pay a fee for a copy of their own. These copies are updated on a monthly basis and are generally used for either large starships or when large volumes of information are needed at incredibly short notice. Unlicenced copies are commonly made by simply saving articles to local storage, although these copies very rarely contain more than a few hundred articles, making them useful only to the individual(s) the copy was made by.
Direct Access
In order to preserve the integrity of the Archives, direct access to the Galactic Archives building is generally reserved for members of the Siathan Royal Family as well as staff of the Archive Maintenance Department. Supervised in-person access can be granted on an individual basis, commonly for legal scholars who wish to consult with simulacrums of previous High Empresses.Galactic Archives
