'Sub' Spacecraft Hull
The Onyx Verge Federation has put a lot of wealth into the expansion of their space navies and in doing so developed a new type of hull for their spacecraft. Said craft are very compact and have a short beam giving them a similar look to military submarines; hence their colloquial name of 'subs'. Also, due to the materials used in their creation, subs also have a smooth, uniform matte black finish only broken up with deep navy blues when markings are required.
Because of their compactness, more of the ship's mass can be used for infrastructure like power generation. This gives subs more power and potential cargo capacity than other ships.
Additionally, the colour of a sub gives it an advantage against visual sensors, as the ship tends to blend in with the blackness of space behind it. It is offered no additional protection against other types of sensors, however.
