Magical Powers
Unlike in other places, magical powers within the world of Gajlek take a much different form within humanoid creatures such as humans, elves, dwarves and the like. While magical creatures (animals that is) can still have elemental abilities, these creatures have magical powers that are highly based around the five senses (sight, hearing, smell, touch and taste) with the exception of two powers that are outside the senses (voice and divine powers). Animals can have powers of the senses as well, but only the base powers and not sub powers.
Apart from the more obvious changes to their senses like a better sense of hearing or better vision, there’s other things that they gain along this, and though it can vary what exactly they get, it’s usually something that has already been recorded somewhere in history. No new power of sense has been discovered on either continent of the world in over 3000 years.
Everyone, at birth, gains their powers, but they may not necessarily be able to use them all since birth. For example, someone could be born with the power of hearing, voice and sight, but only able to use sight since birth. Their power of voice could develop much later in life, maybe after they'd have lost their voice, while their power of hearing could develop during their childhood.
Each ability, for humanoids that is, is not hereditary. Quite the opposite in fact, where one could gain the power of voice even with not even a single person in the family having had it as well. While it is common for people to be born with about 2 abilities, it isn’t uncommon for people to only have one or even 3. There have only been 17 recorded humans in the kingdom’s history who could use 4 abilities, 5 people for 5 abilities and only 1 person being able to use all.
Sense Rarity
Each sense has a different rarity and probability of appearing, and it's all listed below:- Touch: 1 in 10
- Taste: 1 in 100
- Smell: 1 in 10,000
- Hear: 1 in 100,000
- Sight: 1 in 1,000,000
- Voice: 1 in 3 generations (about 500 years or so) [within the Kingdom of Kynhaymia that is - actually about 1 in 3,000,000 outside the kingdom's walls]
- Divine Powers: 1 in 50,000
