Tancred

Tancred was an NPC during the Smugglers of magic campaign. He is the leader of The Stolen, one of Bersail's major guilds. At the time of the campaign Tancred is a long leader of the stolen and a well respected one at that.
Tancred is kleptomaniac, enjoys the thrill of theft for its own sake. He at his heart does seek to help people, the downtrodden and poor, beggars particularly both because he legitimately cares and because people who like him help him, so the downtrodden are a source of recruitment too.
The man is middle aged at the time of the campaign somewhat overweight and bald with a small beard. Few people however know what Tancred looks like, rather only knowing him by name and actions as the Stolen's leader. Tancred does this deliberatly, he often walks around the streets in various different outfits, he likes the idea that most people don't know who he is. Tancred wears silly and weird outfits when he does this to feign stupidity, but in reality he is one of the most quickwitted people you'l meet. Tancred does however have an emotional streak to him, and is not as coldblooded as he tries to make himself believe he is.
During the campaign, Tancred was not seen directly a lot, but as the main leader of the Stolen his actions were major to the campaign. When the Smugglers of Magic split off from the Stolen, Tancred directed the stolen to try and destroy the smugglers to show dominance and get their territory back. They tried all kinds of stretegies for this. This however did not end up working and in a direct confrontation at the Smugglers headquarters Tancred was eventually forced to admit that the bloodshed was useless and agreed with the Smugglers to terms to stop the fighting and death.
