Parafonos Blood
Parafonos Blood was a type of medical procedure which caused a person to lose access to arcane magic. It worked by injecting anti-magic alloys into a person's body, most commonly through the forearms. The alloy would dissolve into the blood over time which made the procedure permanent. Getting the metal out on time was often lethal and as such not practiced. The procedure itself had a 20% mortality rate.
A person who received the procedure could be recognized by black looking veins and scars at the point of incision, which is left by the metal dissolving like a residue. Whilst the metal would be mixed in a patient's blood, it would not cause any discoloration in the blood itself.
If the amount of of anti-magic metal alloys isn't sufficient then the Parafonos operation is not permanent and rather would slowly over a course of months or years be filtered out of a person's system resulting in them regaining their ability to execute magic.
Affected Groups
Most commoners would be unaffected by Parafonos Blood as it would only cause people to lose access to Arcane Magic, which not a lot of people possess by nature. It was mostly only used against known Magic Users who for one reason or another were deemed to not be allowed access to magic anymore.
History
- Unknown - The Parafonos Blood procedure was invented.
- Around 654 AC - The Smugglers of Magic regularly used the procedure on refugees of Bersail they smuggled in. They would do this sometimes whenever they could not pay a debt to the organization.
