Life energy
Life energy is the flow of the world. It originates from the world tree, but as everything comes from the world tree, everything has life energy.
Everything needs life energy to stay existing.
If something starts to be low on life energy it crumbles and completely disappears. If a spot in space has absolutely no life energy it turns into a literal void, though life energy from surroundings would spread to fill the void very quickly.
Souls function like little portals while in use, the funnel life energy from the source of all that energy, the world tree. and it's how they keep creatures that also use up energy alive.
Life energy is infinitely complex in the world. It takes on the aspect of what it is embodying in the infinite(meaning it has energy from all of its aspects from its basic descriptors like fire to the most specific little things), and that energy flows all throughout the world, it all things. places where it lacks are filled again and places where it is too much slowly disperse. if something however runs out of life energy in a relatively fast manner that it cannot be replaced it crumbles away into nothing. and on the other side if too much flows into it forcefully and it cannot be dispersed it explodes out typically in magic bursts with unpredictable effects tied to the aspects of the life energy. Life energy is the integral source required for Magic.
in most scenario's life energy is invisible on the material plane, but it is visible in the Ethereal plane, there it's a complex mist of muted grey with slight bits of color, though strongly concentrated life energy like magical areas are vibrant in color instead.
