Book of Hunter and Prey

The Book of Hunter and Prey is a small handwritten book detailing the religious practices of one of the now deceased Goblin Gods, interspersed with survival and hunting advice. It is written in cramped Goblin Runes , though certain sections are written in Common, Elvish and Dwarvish. There are also some small illustrations, mostly of tracks. The writing medium varies greatly, some pages are ink on vellum, some are charcoal or graphite on paper or even treebark. A few leather hides have had the runes gently scored into them with a sharp object are used more rarely, mostly towards the middle of the book. Overall though, great care seems to have been taken to keep the book from being harmed by weathering or age, and it is one of the largest literary works in goblin language to have ever been discovered.   Of important note, neither the god nor the author are ever identified by name, with the book claiming that to do either would bring the attention of the Warlord God. The book was discovered in the Secnator Desert, wrapped in rags from a now faded tapestry and buried in rocky patch many miles from any water source.

Purpose

This document seems to be most focused on recording the religious practices of the nameless hunter god, and passing on those traditions most relevant to hunting.

Publication Status

Several copies have been made, and for a while the book was printed in Marnain, which partially triggered the 4th Melegian war. Locations of copies are usually kept hidden as to avoid similar attacks from Church of the Conqueror God, but if you know where to looks it isn't too hard to find.

Historical Details

Background

This book is particularly unusual for two reasons. Firstly, the author claims to be a goblin himself, a species that rarely commits itself to lengthy works of writing. Secondly, the god it describes is one of those conquered and by the Warlord God a long time past, being evidence that the worship of these supposedly fallen gods continued in to more recent history.
