He is the current ruler of Tir Na Nog, "the Otherworld", keeper of souls. When a creature on Gaia dies after its soul visits “Fates End” they are then to be brought to him or his court, that soul will be sent to dwell in a chosen realm of Tir Na Nog. Most often the place a soul goes to rest is determined by who the soul worshiped, if however the tenets of the souls patron where broken Manannan may choose as he pleases within the laws set by the Tuatha De Dana were that soul will spend its after life.
