Human

Humans are the most numerous race in the world of Gaia. They have the shortest life span of all intelligent races, but have the capacity to have a large number of children. They have a tendency to be quite good at what they set their mind to, and in their relatively short lives, find more efficient ways to learn skills.

Basic Information

Genetics and Reproduction

Humans are the most numerous sapient species in the world by a large margin. Though their potential lifespans are much shorter than that of the fey species, humans are capable of having many more children than fey. A single human mother could give birth to as many as 8 humans in her lifetime while most long-lived elf or gnome mothers would be extremely lucky to give birth to 3.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Humans can be found in all corners of the world in vast numbers. By this time period, they have spread so far and wide that Gaia is often referred to by fey as the "Human World".

Civilization and Culture

History

Drivers of Civilization

Out of all the sapient species that have inhabited the world of Gaia, none of them come close to having the same impact as humans have. Humans were the first species to develop communities. They were the first to comprehend the concept of agriculture, tools, and invention. Though the orcs, goblins, ogres, and ettins had a few technological advancements of their own, all of them were based on stolen human inventions. Even when the fey arrived after the Great Happening, their entire culture was heavily based on human concepts.
