An exquisite specimen of the smith’s craft, the Flametongue Scimitar is a beautiful weapon, boasting an intricate watered-steel blade with intricate gold and silver filigree inlaid along the Ardhéan engraving. The blade is affixed to a polished ivory handle wrapped in supple doe-skin dyed bright red.

Game Information

The Flametongue Scimitar is a magical scimitar with the following traits:

Tier 0 (Not Attuned)

  • +1 to attack rolls and damage dealt
  • When the wielder wills it and utters the name "Eos", the blade erupts in flames, changing its damage type from slashing to fire.
  • When flaming, emits 10 feet of light, and a further 10 feet of dim light.

Tier 1 (Attuned)

In order to attune to the Flametongue Scimitar, the wielder must be of at least level 5. When attuned to the Flametongue Scimitar at Tier 1, the wielder may increase their attunement to Level 2 if they fulfill certain criteria that will become known when the blade is properly identified.

  • +1 to attack rolls and damage dealt
  • When the wielder wills it and utters the name "Eos", the blade erupts in flames, adding 1d6 fire damage to the scimitar's 1d6 slashing damage.
  • When flaming, emits 20 feet of light, and a further 20 feet of dim light.
  • The wielder, while attuned to the Flametongue scimitar may cast Detect Evil and Good as a first-level spell. Once this ability has been used, the wielder may not use it again until their next long rest.
