The Outside World: Europe

While Borders of Europe have largely stayed the same, some areas with their own distinct culture began to separate from their mother countries this is the case [3] for; Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Serbia, Switzerland and Sweden.

Why not the UK

While the UK has its own separatist movements, namely with the Scottish and the Welsh.

Scotland

The Scottish had an independence referendum in 2014. Which resulted in a "no" result. From the referendum result, the political party promising independence from the union became popular regardless that the referendum was meant to be a one in a generation. The next independence referendum would then be in 2039. In the next general election in 2019, Scotland saw a large resurgence of the independence party. During the pandemic, they became inspired by the idea of independence due to, in their view of the main government's inadequate attempts to dealing with the pandemic.   While a second referendum did not happen a referendum was planned for the other three nations to see if they wanted the Scottish independent from them as they cost the British government more to run than they were getting back in taxes. Once the Scottish got wind of this they dropped the desire for independence.

Wales

While the Welsh were happy to be in union with English, as they saw eye to eye culturally and historically. During the pandemic, they used their devolved government separate from the English and became quasi-independent and thought they could be. Once the pandemic was over Wales and the rest of the UK made their peace and the rest of the nations of the UK chose to still be part of the UK.

Trade and Transportation

All Trade has largely stayed the same. With some expectations these being mostly in commodities that are target to pirates as the only mode of transport between countries to each other by land or through shipping.   Where the trade commodities are transported overland long distance it is moved through the use of trains, when it is in short distances it is either carried or carried by the horse.   Due to The Great Rewind planes are not used as there is no crude oil to be refined or fuel. Trains and Ships run off coal and when trains are in built-up areas they are powered electrically.
