Squorrel
Seed Runner Florabeast
Forests replenish themselves in many ways, with trees having a multitude of different methods to propagate the next generation. Some have light seeds carried by the winds, others have heavy nuts that don't fall far from their branches. These types of trees don't grow well spaced close together, but nature has a way around this. Enter the humble Squorrel.
Constantly racing from tree to tree during the seasons where trees produce the most, Squorrels are a defining feature of most wooded areas. Common squirrels are territorial and will fight off others of their kind to ensure their own share of the resources, but since Squorrels have no predators and eat only sunlight and water, squirrels not only tolerate their presence but encourage it, since the nuts the Squorrels bury are easily dug back up again, making for an easy meal.
The Squorrel's drive to bury things that are small, hard, and relatively round makes for some interesting antics on homesteads that border the forest. Settlers often report missing buttons, doorknobs, or eggs, only to find them in holes in the woods days later. This is usually nothing more than idle mischief, with the exception of the eggs.
Squorrels are prized by Guardiners and other active individuals, largely for their talent of being able to scale sheer and treacherous surfaces. While both male and female Squorrels have long, bushy tails covered in seed pods, only the female's actually produce viable seeds.
