Lilytiger

Regal Trumpet Florabeast

Deep in the dark jungles lurks a fearsome creature, as big as six men with terrible claws and horrible fangs. That isn't the Lilytiger, though, which despite being the size of a horse with sharp thorn-claws that can rip up just about anything, is as docile and playful as a housecat. They love to explore and find new things, always searching out treasures for their planters.

Like nearly all Florabeasts, especially those derived from flowers, Lilytigers come in all sorts of colors and varieties, with pink, yellow, red, and white, all scored with black stripes that make them quite striking. Not to mention the trumpet-like flower that grows from the end of their tails.

This flower is an important part of the Florabeast's lifecycle, and they're very protective of it. The pollen that it produces is highly potent, and can knock a full-grown man out cold with just a few sniffs. Some Florabeasts are affected by it too, usually those that are derived from mammals.

There has been some research done into the opposing natures of this Florabeast. It is known through common wisdom that lily flowers are harmful to common barn cats. Among those who keep jungle tigers in a menagerie for easy observation and study, none yet have been willing to allow natural philosophers to expose their pets to lilies and record the results. A single jungle explorer does tell a tale of a tribe of natives who use lilies to repel tigers that encroach upon their hunting grounds, though whether it is the flowers or the fire and torches that actually do the job, more research is certainly needed.

Name Explanation
There is a species of lily called the tiger lily. The author is allergic to the pollen of lilies, which is why this Florabeast's pollen is so highly reactive.
