Leequack

Bunching Fowl Florabeast

Deep in the woods, you may stumble upon a vast lake. The first thing you'll notice is a sharp, onion-like smell. The next is a loud quacking sound, filling the air more than the smell. The Leequack is commonly found near water, as they need large amounts of it both to feed on during their rooting cycles but also to swim around and prove their ability.

Leequack are very competitive Florabeasts, and are always engaging in feats of agility and skill with one another, or with any other Florabeast they come across. Despite their small size, they are exceptionally useful at driving off hostile beasts of any variety, flapping their wings in their foe's face to distract them, while pecking at their eyes with their hard beaks. This assault is bolstered by a potent, acidic oil they are able to spray in small quantities.

While not as competent flyers as some other Florabeasts, Leequack can handle long distance flight very well, sometimes being used as messengers between settlements. They are also very capable at swimming, and can store up a great deal of air to stay submerged for quite some time. All of these qualities make for a useful and loyal Florabeast, provided they can resist competing too much.

Name Explanation
The final 'k' sound of leek matches with the initial sound of "quack." The curled tail feather of the male duck resembles the curling leaf bunches of the fully-grown leek. The Pokémon Farfetch'd was an inspiration for this Florabeast.
