"The Battle of Margoth, it took place not far from here about three centuries ago. The man you see at the top of the hill was the founder of our guild Huri Yakima, and the demon he beheaded was the leader of that horde, a Knight Lord of Aberath. Margoth is the only recorded event of a Knight Lord ever coming to our realm. He lead his horde through the countryside destroying several hamlets until they came upon the village of Margoth. It was a slaughter, they had no military and most died, the few that escaped sought the help of anyone they could find.
Yakima was a retired warrior, and he lived with a few of the warriors who were under his command, as was the custom of their people. Yakima found one of the villagers in his garden, passed out and bleeding. He tended to his wounds, and when the villager told Yakima of what happened, he sent out one of his men for reinforcements to meet them at Margoth. Sneaking into the village in the cover of night, Yakima and his men managed to kill many demons while they slept until a cohort of warriors from his tribe arrived and the battle began.
The demons were scattered and taken by surprise, but were massive brutes and outnumbered Yakima’s men ten to one. After the fighting had gone on for some time, it became clear that the battle was lost, the demons pushed them into a circle and had them completely surrounded. It was then that Yakima noticed one demon giving out orders, and he stood nine feet tall holding two massive blades engulfed in green flame. The retired warrior ordered his men to form a spear in a final act of desperation. As they cut through the ranks toward the Knight Lord, Yakima screamed out, challenging the beast. The Knight Lord obliged by cutting through three men in a single motion and was upon Yakima in a moment. He fought the beast with his best of efforts, but it slashed his back with what seemed to be a fatal wound. The demon roared in victory and began to boast to his horde of his prowess, Yakima took the opportunity to quickly use some battle magic and thrust his blade straight through the demon's great neck. He motioned with his hand and the sword spun around, dismembering the head from the body. The horde became terrified and fought out of fear, which lost them the battle.
After the battle was over, help was sent out for Yakima. A healer was brought to him through magical means, and they spent days trying to heal the wound, but in the end there was only so much that could be done. While his physical body healed, something else in him did not. He created the Demon Hunter Guild along with the entire training process. Yakima taught the guild how to find victims of demon attacks and rebuild their minds into hunters, creating effective tools of vengeance.
Some years passed before Yakima’s real wound reared it’s head. He slowly became reclusive, avoiding people, cutting necessary conversations with his assistants short, his lectures came to a grinding halt. As concern about Yakima grew, so did the evil inside him. Soon after these events began, Huri Yakima disappeared and was never seen again.
His story serves as a warning to any tainted by demon kind, take care of yourself and do not lose sight of what you are fighting for, lest you become the very thing you sought to destroy."
