The Forverret Regression

“During my stay in Fredelig, I learned that the Forverret were struggling with a degenerative condition that disables your sense of touch and pain. It’s a truly terrifying thought, having to wake up one day not being able to feel in some part of your body. The condition reveals itself later on in life and is a sign that you’re growing old. Some live in paranoia, as the time could come where they realize they were genetically predisposed to losing touch. The condition is genetic mutation that happens while a baby is still in the womb. The condition can also be passed on to your offspring. People who suffer usually die soon after their diagnosis due to not feeling anything while they’re being ravaged by another disease. This condition hasn’t spread to Provectus nor Caesellius Vindex, because of the Forverret’s isolation from the rest of the world.” - Robert Gaul

Transmission & Vectors

“Regression” as it’s usually called, is normally hereditary but is sometimes developed in the womb by a random mutation.

Symptoms

Before the entire condition sets in, the victim may feel a burning sensation around their hands. This sensation continues throughout the body until the nerves are mostly destroyed.

Treatment

No official cures exist but there are treatments that lessen the burning pain. Natural painkillers are used along with cold baths to numb the burning sensation.

Affected Groups

The elderly Forverret are the only people that experience this condition.

Prevention

To escape Regression, you simply must be lucky. Even if both of your Forverret parents had the condition, there’s a chance you may be unaffected.

Cultural Reception

The people of Fredelig have had mixed reactions to the condition. Some are scared to death and others accept its inevitability in some lives. The randomness of the condition makes it just so terrifying.
