A world fractured by a magical war thousands of years ago. Unknown kingdoms vied for ever increasing power, creating even more terrible and devastating machinations of war. An emperor driven mad with power, or a rogue nation-state, no one knows now, did the unthinkable: they shattered the world. The magical World Core was exposed and unleashed the raw magics wildly across Fractura's surface, entire continents were atomized, what little of its surface remained is held together by the strong magical field emanating from the World Core.   Sanctuary Domes, the ancient artifacts of war, emit powerful magical shields throughout the world. These have become hubs of commerce, fertile valleys for crops, and hospitable mineral rich areas for mining after the Fracturing. Between the Sanctuaries is an inhospitable land. Raging tsunamis powered by the Wild Magic, Deadly swamps who's denizens have been twisted and corrupted by the Fracturing, and the lost and forgotten cities of old twisted and warped from millennia of Wild Magic.   In many places magic use is outright forbidden by law, with only a select few licensed to practice under the supervision of their rules. A few, rare Sanctuaries use magic for everything in their lives, from the common place warming of a tea kettle, to powering massive machines which excavate the local mine. However using magic in The Wilds between Sanctuaries is like holding up a large metal rod in a lightning storm - Foolish at best, deadly more often than not.   The planet spins on its side, creating endless summers at the equator, and long, dark winters followed by a slow upward spiraling summer sun at the poles. The gods of old are dead, and an uneasy cooperative "peace" is held throughout the sparse surviving civilizations. Most species keep to their own respective Sanctuaries, but a few places, such as Meetpoint, have become a melting pot for all of Fractura's races and cultures.
