Ul'gol
Burned and ravaged after the Scourge War, Ul’gol was once home to thousands of Elves. When the armies of Belon began burning the forests many of the wood elf villages and groves were swept up in the flames. Now that the war is over, the remaining Wood Elves, joined by their High Elf brethren from their tall tower cities, focus their attention on the survival of their people and the regrowth of the once great Ul’gol Forests. To this end, the High Elves welcomed, tentatively, the peoples of Urbest and Formene to settle upon the new plains of Ul’gol. In trade for access to the land, the people of Ul’gol are bound to be careful where they settle, and assist in caring for the recovering forests.
Demographics
While the Elves recover from the ravages of the Scourge War, the High elves in their tower cities and the Wood Elves in their scattered villages, the Befouled Races had made a place for themselves in Ul'gol. At this time, the population of Humans, Half-Elves, Halflings, Gnomes, etc equal or outnumber the High Elves of Ul'gol.
Government
Ul'gol is managed by a combination of Elven Lords, and the Noble Council of Havenforge. Nothing is done with the land or settlements of Ul'gol that the High Elves of Deluriath do not approve of. Thankfully the leadership within the Council tend to agree with the limitations the elves have placed on the holdings they've shared.
Defences
Most Settlements in Ul'gol have a mixture of short stone barding around palisade walls. Havenforge bears tall, thick stone walls embedded with Purification Crystal inlay forged to restrain the Foul's reach into the city. Meanwhile, the Elven Tower of Deluriath bears strong wardings against the harming of the woven trees that make up it's outer walls.
Industry & Trade
Without a means of production, few of the burgeoning settlements of Ul'gol take root. That said, most smaller settlements find it easy enough to grow food by means of farming, ranching, or fishing, and can supplement this produce with hunting or lumber with Elven permission.
Havenforge's mines make up a significant portion of the wealth of the region as they produce valuable minerals that are sent north and east to other regions.
Infrastructure
The process for arranging a settlement involve obtaining sponsorship, negotiating land claims, and meeting with the Elves to ensure agreements are upheld. Thus, few have had the opportunity to plant and grow.
Assets
The mines of Ul'Rous have enriched the citizens of Havenforge, even as the Forests regrow and are carefully cut and nurtured as they heal from the burning that started the Scourge War.
Guilds and Factions
Three guilds for the majority of organization in Ul'gol. The Ul'Reese Trading Company contracts most of the merchantile movement in the region, while Maxine's Hammers, the local Adventuring company, protect the shipments. Finally, the Springforge Family manages the mines and oversees the workers and their families.
History
Ul'gol, once a strictly Elven nation, has only recently opened up to the non-elven peoples of Urbest and Formene in return for their assistance in ending the Scourge War.
Architecture
Havenforge and the human (or otherwise) settlements that spring from it bear mostly eastern European architectural styles.
Geography
Once completely forested from west to east, Ulgol now features a large, wide plain radiating out from Ul'Rous. The Eastern Mountains mark the barrier known as Telruden's Wall, and the border between Ul'gol and Formene.
