This session begins with our brave little band just inside the forest outside of Phandalin and traveling north. Approximately two hours into the forest, we came across a tree blocking the road. From there on, we have to proceed without our cart with all but Mairon on foot. He is riding one of the horses while the other carries our supplies. A little farther in, and Mimi (our pseudo-dragon friend) sees a small clearing which Roscoe proceeds to scout. He comes upon a dilapidated castle whose walls have been sheered up.

There is a stairway to a single door on the south side, and a dual staircase on the west, where there are turrets with arrow slits as well as arrow slits in the outer walls.

At this point, Mairon and Roscoe share an invisibility potion and enter into the castle through the southern door. Once inside, Roscoe heads north, and Marion goes west.

Mairon discovers a dining hall and does his best to start a brawl by calling out insults to different creatures, but, alas, was not successful in starting much. He also discovers some sleeping quarters, and a sanctuary chamber for offering sacrifices.

Roscoe discovers more bed chambers as well as several curtained entrances that he doesn't enter.

After this, they both come back and draw a map for the rest of us so we have an idea of what we are getting into.

So as our next order of business, we decide to breach the castle as a group. Mairon & Roscoe remain invisible and go back in via the west double door. The rest of us will approach through the south door. We will meet up in the bed chamber Mairon found that is closest to the dining room.

Roscoe breaks invisibility and attacks a Goblin in our path. As a group, we then defeat three Goblins and are then attacked by two other Goblins entering the room. We are forced to extinguish the fires of their lives as well.
Meanwhile, Mairon proceeds to the altar room which was originally dedicated to his own god, but is now being desecrated by the pagan, Goblin sacrifices being made there. He encounters four Hobgoblins and a named Goblin. Marion dispatches four of five almost immediately – the named one surviving the initial onslaught. At that time a plant-like creature drops down the wall and attacks our beloved wizard.

Simultaneously, the rest of the group attacks and kills two Goblins in a second turret room. Then two more enter into the hallway, and have to be put out of their misery as well.

Mairon then escapes to the hall, but there is a Hobgoblin blocking the door which prevents the plant-like creature from being able to reach our wizard and do him any more harm.

When it was all over, we had made short work of thirteen Goblins, four Hobgoblins, a named Goblin and a “worm” (the plant-like creature).

We then looted some bloody chainmail and a long sword, taken from Knight Hallwinter when he was captured on the Triboar Trail. This was given to Elbon for safe keeping andrestoral to its owner.

Once more, we recessed our adventure until our next gathering at which time we will continue to clear the castle searching for Carnak’s cousin Gundren Rockseeker.
