The Lost

The Lost, The Forgotten, or The Vanished, collectively referred to as such in Elara, are believed to represent a civilization whose remnants are scattered throughout the land. Elara is steeped in legends, myths, and theories about the fate of this enigmatic culture. Speculations range from divine punishment to ascension to the heavens.
Every nation within Elara possesses monuments inscribed with their writings, buildings showcasing their architectural style, and various remnants that signify the presence of the Lost. These artifacts can even be found amidst the Verdants forests that have reclaimed long-abandoned cities and towns left behind by the Lost.
While some cultures, like the Wanderers, consider these items and locations to be cursed and avoid any association with them, the majority of the inhabitants of Elara treasure these ancient artifacts. They have integrated the Lost's buildings into their city infrastructure, recognizing their historical and cultural significance. Strangely these cities are all coastal ports, lending to the idea that the Lost were traders from another land.
Interestingly, the "common" tongue spoken in Elara is credited to the Lost, indicating their profound influence on the linguistic development of the region. Additionally, many of the technologies used in the present day can be traced back to the innovations of the Lost civilization.
