The free Isles of Cohrmas is a federal aristocracy. Its federal states are the Islands Ostrunic, Strenkiv and Nyc. This state arose from the island states. It is currently ruled by a nycian industry company, the Royal Armory and a farmer family from Strenkiv.
Politics
The Free Isles are a federal aristocracy made of the three states, Ostrunic, Strenkiv and Nyc. Each one of them send a representative to the council to rule the state. The islands are ruled by different government froms. Nyc is a representative democracy. Strenkiv and Ostrunic are each ruled by a different aristocracy. To work and that the Aristocracy doesn't prevert into an oligarchy the people always have the power to protest.
Judiciary
The criminals who are jailed by the city watch are judged by the mayor. This only works in villages. That's why the mayor can also appoint a person who takes the position of judge. The judge in charge is instructed to listen to the people on the street and only speak a verdict if the people want to punish the criminal. In severe punishments the Free Isles have a courthouse in many cities that can overrule the verdict of the mayor. The court rules by jury with each member of the jury has to live on a different island as the crime was committed on. This helps prevent a jury that has emotional involvement in the case.
