Mythoclysm
Mythoclysm is the phenomenon where the geography and weather of the world are directly shaped by the emotions of the gods. When the gods experience strong emotions, the effects manifest almost immediately, altering landscapes, climates, and weather patterns without warning.
When despair takes hold of the gods, temperatures plummet, and the world may become locked in ice. Snow falls relentlessly, glaciers spread across once-temperate lands, and rivers freeze solid. Crops die, animals migrate or perish, and entire civilizations can be buried under layers of frost. If the gods are overcome with rage, the environment responds with violent eruptions of energy. Oceans boil, causing tsunamis and deadly storms, while volcanic activity increases, sending ash clouds into the sky and reshaping the land. Earthquakes, wildfires, and hurricanes are common during these periods.
Other emotions create different effects. When the gods are consumed by grief, torrential rains can fall for weeks, flooding vast regions and turning fertile ground into swamps. Periods of overwhelming fear among the gods may cause thick, choking fogs to blanket the land, disorienting travelers and hiding dangers. Intense joy might lead to sudden bursts of growth, with forests expanding rapidly, flowers blooming out of season, and wildlife thriving. However, even positive emotions can be dangerous if they are too strong, as unchecked growth can overwhelm cities and farmlands
When the gods are calm, content, or hopeful, the world remains stable. Seasons follow predictable patterns, weather is mild, and the land is fertile. This balance is fragile, though, as any shift in the gods' emotional state can trigger sudden and extreme environmental changes. Fortunately, if one god is feeling a strong emotion that the others do not, it can be overpowered and nullified. But it does bring instability and risk to the world, for if just one or two gods also slip into this emotion, the whole world will feel the effects.
"Nature and it's spirits aren't the only ones melding the world into what it is. The gods themselves, albeit subconsciously, have a great impact on Numira. When hard times are about and the future looks bleak, a harsh winter or scorching summer may descend upon those who are already struggling. During pleasant and peaceful time periods, life will flourish and grow too fast for us to cut it away from our cities. It's a volatile system, especially after Ravek's depression set in, but I am still grateful for it. Us mortals have a lot more control over the gods than we often think."
