War reparations edicts
Purpose
This document listed first the conditions from what any person living in Entrelai could be consider part of the treacherous redwood alliance or sympatizer of their actions agaist the kingdom.
The second thing the document listed, is the punishiment to be inflicted on anyone who fill this criteria, to be senteced to servitude in Spirilai, to repay the sum of the cost of the war has inflicted in the kingdom.
Historical Details
Background
In the capital, the political instability between the different political groups, which led to the consolidation of power between the Sinclave family and the Crystal family to avoid a power grap from the small noble families were still present.
The war has been used as an opportunity to holster a sense of unity between the different groups agaist the rebels, but as the victory started to become closer, those problems were starting to present themselves in a myriad of ways to the king and the mayor noble families.
History
On the year 290AT, the king of Entrelai declares the whole area between the rivers from the sea to the mountains, their kingdom. This encorage a group of settlements in the east of the country, which have comercial ties to each other, to form the The redwood alliance. After negocitiations failed, the young redwood alliance formally declare themselves independent to the kingdom. This prompt the king of entrelai to declare a unification war to pacify the east. After 12 years of war. Entrelai emerge victorious and entreches several extremely harsh punishiment to anyone involved in the war, to discorage any other act of rebelion.
Public Reaction
The public reaction was different depending on 3 main groups, the proclamation of this edict affected:
In the capital, the edict was welcomed by the mayority of the noble families. As it would provide a working force, more reliable that the current one.
Several groups, like The comunity of hunters were publictly agaist it, as they consider it an attack agaist their organization and the fundational rules of the city. This opinions were brutaly represed by the king, in some cases using the same edict itself, as they were demed sympatetic to the east.
In the east, widespread panic followed the armies, as whole town were put in chains and sent to the capital. Those lucky enought to be aware of the edict, abandoned their home town to seek refuge in the wilds, normally The Frontier Forest
Legacy
There was several effect of this edict, that still can be seen today:
After this decree significally increased the number of slaves in Spiralai, the influence of the comunity of hunters was greatly diminished. As slaves replaced many task they were performing up to that point, so their voice went mostly ignored, after this.
The north-east of the country was left very unpopulated and is still, the wildest area of Entrelai to this day
Non-human creatures are to this day consider monster and even if intelligent, are not treated as equal.
