General Summary
Within the moment of Idyllglen housed in Zariel's sword, we confronted the echo of Zariel about the cost of her decision to join Asmodeus. We successfully argued that abandoning one's self to achieve a goal loses sight of why you fought for a goal in the first place. The echo agreed to argue the point to her current self.
Blessed by Lathander, Lulu's magic returned us to Elturel, though not at the High Hall as planned. Instead, we were intercepted by Zariel herself in guise of a nobelwoman halfway up the road to the High Hall. Harad in particular was in no mood to parley and Zariel attacked. We tasted Zariel's fury briefly before the pleas of her old friend Lulu caught her attention. Zariel agreed to contact her echo in the sword, and took up her old blade. As Zariel stood entranced with the blade, Bel suddenly appeared with an ice devil lackey to take advantage of the situation. He was unprepared for the power we could wield and was shortly forced to flee in utter defeat.
Zariel come out of her trance with a shout and pulled her echo from the blade. Absorbing silver radiance from the blade, the ghost became solid and declared she was now Rezurel, holding the angelic blade high.
Zariel addressed us:
My legions are the only thing holding back the bottomless hunger of the Abyss. I did not fall into the clutches of evil. I rose to shoulder a cosmic burden.
Zariel ordered us to leave Avernus, then left. Rezurel took up the adamantine rods we stole from Zariel's fortress and used them to free a planetar from the solar insidiator. The pair of angels severed the chains dragging the city down, then pulled the city up, up out of the Nine Hells in a column of light.
With a shudder, Elturel returned home. Rezurel gifted us a feather from her wing, declaring that if we called on her, she would come. We affirmed our willingness to do the same. Lulu and the two angels returned to their home in the heavens.
