Dessarin River

A large river flowing down from The Spine of the World, it cuts through the center of the Dessarin Valley, splitting both the Dessarin Hills and Sumber Hills. Used as a major tradeway for those in the valley, it is the main method of transporting wheat from Goldenfields to Yartar. About five miles wide, there are only 3 main ways to cross without proper naval transport: the bridge at Yartar, the bridge between Amphail and Womford , and the ancient Stone Bridge.

Geography

The Dessarin River is the main source of fresh water throughout the valley. With a continual feed from the frozen northern mountains, it constantly provides ample water for farmers within the valley. With multiple offshoot streams, many of which flow through underground waterways, the river supplies many of the lakes within the valley with newer sources of water. The eastern portion of the Sumber hills is often flooded with excess water from the river during winter and spring, causing the smaller streams to become dangerous rapids for a time.

Fauna & Flora

The waters of the Dessarin were home to the silver shalass, a fish that was considered a delicacy across the North.
