The Wizard's Tournament of Dweomercore, in which Beelz ended up the winner.


The rules for the tournament were split into three tasks. The rules were given as follows:

Rules

  • All of these challenges will take place outside of Dweomercore, so restrictions on...creative elimination of the competition have been lifted.
  • Those that complete the task will get points; first one through gets the most. You can forfeit if you're too much of a coward to finish the job, but you'll get zero points for that.
  • All travel outside the academy grounds is strictly prohibited until the tournament is finished.
  • Once sent to the task location, you may not leave that region or plane of existence except to return to the academy.
  • Falsifying your results is the same as a forfeit.
  • You may not turn to any extraplanar being or deity for help, unless such a being is enslaved to your will (such as a summoned creature)
  • There are three challenges. Between each challenge, all participants are given a week to rest and prepare, free from classes & chores. Interfering in the rest of another competitor is strictly prohibited. Leave your murder for outside the academy.

Task 1: Dragon's Egg

"Now, for the first challenge! Our opening salvo shall not disappoint: far to the frozen north, upon the roof of this blighted little world, slumbers the white dragon Serakrish, proud mother to a new clutch of eggs - quite impressive considering she's nearly a millennium old. I want those eggs. Dress warm, for the Stolid Glacier awaits!"   Beelz & crew were teleported to the glacier, having to make their way to the dragon's lair. Along the way they saw, in the distance, Nylas fighting Violence, twin sister of Turbulence. Unbeknownst to the party, Nylas killed Violence. Within the glacier, the party encountered Cephalossk, who wished to eat the brains of Spite Harrowdale. The party distracted Spite long enough for Cephalossk to get his meal, then escaped with the egg. Beelz was the first back with his egg.  

Task 2: The Temple of Sekolah

For your next challenge, you'll have to dig down deep. Beneath the waves, the sahuagin perform a ritual to praise their god, Sekolah the Sharklord. You shall have to penetrate their sanctum, retrieve something from their ritual, and return to the portal on the water's surface. Oh, and if you need help, I recommend you study the wizards of Dweomercore past. One of them may provide some help.   Later, morning of:   You gather once again at around the Headmaster, who grins at each of you. "All ready for a swim? Good, good. Oh, there's been a little addition to our contest. See, the ritual of the sahuagin requires something valuable to sacrifice. So, what you treasure most has been stolen from you, given freely to the sharks for use in their foul ritual. Dare not tarry, for there is but one hour to find the Temple of Sekolah and recover that which you hold most dear. Ta ta!" A portal opens up, on the other side of which is an endless expanse of ocean waves.   The party had to make it down to the Sahuagin temple, where the loved ones of the contestants had been captured. The party freed their compatriot,

Task 3: The Mad Maze

"And so, we come to our final challenge: the Mad Maze. Don't worry, this isn't any boring old maze spell. This one is filled to the brim with undead horrors, traps galore, and at the end of it: A sphinx! She, Mighty Aleria, guards a golden grail filled with sacred coins. Bring me a coin by cracking her riddle or braving her claws, and then escape the Maze."   The party had to make it through a labyrinth to the center, where a goblet waited filled with coins. What the party did not know is that the goblet was actually a phylactery of the lich Ezzat, who arrived (quite perturbed) and began killing students. The party snatched a coin and left, winning the tournament.
