Magic Items & Special Materials
Rules As Written
Magic items cannot be bought or sold for a set price. The price is always set by the DM, individually for each item and situation. There are some guidances for special materials (mithral, adamantine, etc.) but nothing concrete.
House Rule
Magic Items
At the discretion of the DM, the price guideline for magic items we use is called Sane Magic Item Prices. In highly magic areas, such as Sigil or the City of Brass, magic shops exist that sell items at these rates. Check with your DM before shopping off this list; if you aren't told there's a magic shop, there isn't one.
Exceptions to Sane Magic Item Prices
- Mithral: Weapons cost 250 gp plus base weapon cost. Armor costs 2,500 gp, plus base armor cost.
- Adamantine: Weapons cost 500 gp plus base weapon cost. Armor costs 5,000 gp, plus base armor cost.
Rationalization/Reason for the Rule
Convenience in high magic areas.
